  1. Yes. Everybody *SHOULD* listen to Samsung about batteries, because Samsung suffered a HUGE SETBACK with the exploding phones, and therefore are committed to that NEVER HAPPENING AGAIN! They cannot allow it. They cannot afford it.

    If Samsung implements their battery check procedure, do you think they will ever having a problem with exploding phone batteries again? I don't think they will.

    I think that VSC is doing more then just blinking the cursor. Perhaps it's monitoring the keyboard for input, monitoring the file structure for changes, etc...

    Well, why don't we? I always thought that it would be a good idea to keep track of every crappy thing that every corporation ever does (i.e., pharmaceutical companies raising medicine prices by 15x) so we know which ones are truly evil.

    I was thinking more of the episode of Friends where Chandler was stuck in an ATM vestibule with a model during a blackout. It's ridiculous because the electronic locks should ALWAYS allow egress in the event of a power failure.

    That's a Comcast or Verizon tactic, not a Google tactic. Google is *NOT* wiring the whole country as you say... Just Kansas City, so their tactics can be different. In fact, that was the whole point of the Google Fiber initiative.

    Don't worry about the claims. Earlier articles said that all the xpoint memory was already spoken for by systems integrators for use in server class machines for at least the next year or so. Although Intel announces the SSD, it's still not available for purchase by the general public.

  18. How do you make a tweet strobe? Did he tweet a URL to some crappy flash-based website, or an animated gif, or video? Certainly there are twitter front ends that can read the tweet to you via voice, to help prevent this sort of thing from happening again. Maybe that's something that this writer should look into.

    Microsoft even wrote it TWICE! The first time (Longhorn), it had some strange database file system embedded in it. I understand the whole OS was written in Microsoft's .NET to showcase it's programming language. However, the performance was terrible, so they had to re-write the code in C++ just so it would be acceptable. By this time, users were fed-up with waiting, so Microsoft ditched the database filesystem.

    These are valid grievances, but what concerns me more is that is just more of a way for Hasbro to monetize off your gameplay. I'm sure it will be linked to all social media, so as to include free marketing for the game publisher. They can't do that with private pen and paper.

    The shortage might be caused by some manufacturer's switch to 3D XPoint storage technology. It was announced in Fall of 2016, and was faster than NAND. All the units for the next couple of years have already been spoken for, so we won't see 3D Xpoint drives on the shelf for quite a while.
