There is a general sense of nuclear doomsday in the music of the mid eighties. Ozzy Ozbourne's "The Ultimate Sin" has a few songs about "dropping the bomb", which seems a little strange considering nothing ever came of it.
I think everyone just needs to relax a little. We're not there yet.
Pay close attention to Car commercials on TV... everyday cars like Ford, Chevy, etc., will try to sell you on their specs (value, toughness, awards won), but high end luxury cars (Lexus, BMW) try to sell you on a FEELING. The feeling you get driving it. The feeling you get just sitting in it. It's completely subjective and unable to be measured.
Know any computer manufacturers that use that technique? (Apple)
On newer builds of windows 10, when you install another browser, the browser asks you to go into the default applications page of windows and make your choice. Whenever you do, Windows tries one last time to get you to stick with edge: "Are you really sure? Why not try Edge?"
You have to click a smaller link that says something like "(sheepishly) yes, do it anyway"...
I told my friend's Google Home device to "activate self destruct", and it said "no, I think I'll stick around for a while". Damn insubordinate computers!
A friend of mine has a visual impairment. He has often complained that Windows 10 updates have reset his accessibility options, like the mouse button binding he uses for the magnifier. Microsoft won't care about browser preferences being reset, but maybe a fine for disobeying the Americans with Disabilities Act will get them to get their act together.
When you see a phrase like "a particularly virulent form of computer virus", that usually means "We don't even have basic protection on our systems, so we will make it sound as if the virus is really really mean".
Because many companies require the use of specialized software that ONLY runs on Windows. Look at any industry, and you will find that software. The only companies that can do without windows are the ones that only use web browsers and email.
If he had full disk encryption, the suspect would have to wipe the drive and reinstall to use the system. If the system was wiped, then there is less chance that the victim would be able to track down the laptop.
You seem to think that he is a complete moron, but it seems to me that he made the right decision.
Metal... Hydrogen... LED ZEPPELIN!
In other news, Chrome now uses 12% more RAM.
Doomsday clock pushed to one minute AFTER midnight due to iPhone daylight saving time bug.
I know, right?

Red bull gives you wings... Yes, I have seen a Red Bull ad.
1.6 Million ads since what date? Yesterday? Last week? 20 years ago?
Nothing sounds like Zorg? In a thread about making your Echo more like the computer in STAR TREK, you don't think BORG sounds like Zorg?
Well, it might have a LITTLE to do with price...
I believe that sentence requires its own article here on slashdot!
OMG, Big news!
Wait, no it's not big news. Nevermind.

Poke out all their eyes, and maybe they will.

I sure hope COBRA doesn't get their hands on this technology...

I can immediately think of a couple of things that can be done to make the pattern lock MORE secure:
1. Allow the user to move to non-adjacent spots.
2. Allow the user to double-back along the pattern.
The kind that is written by code.org developers.
He doesn't need one. He's already bigger than any celestial body.
They should have called it "Asteroid CRUSHER"!!!!

Is this what is meant by "fake news"?
The most annoying and frequent robocalls I get are from charities, asking for donations. I want those to stop too.
