  8. How can Microsoft claim that "Windows 7 doesn't meet the demands for modern Technology"? Technology hasn't changed enough since the release of Windows 7! We are still using computers that operate on transistor-based digital electronics. Public acceptance of Quantum computers is still at least a decade away.

Microsoft, I propose a new headline: "Windows 10 doesn't meet the demands for customer usability".

Then what about robots depicted in video games or movies? Should they be "obviously" robots, or maybe have a big red label that says "This is a robot"?

There is a new video game called "Nier: Automata" where you control the actions of an android... But she looks like a teenage girl in a black dress. She uses a sword and projectiles to destroy other robots that look "obviously" like robots. She relates to other androids like a human would, as if they were human, and has emotional reactions like a human would. I'm not quite sure of the reason, but I think the game wouldn't have the same impact on the player if it were just Robotron.

Also, the laws of science fiction do not apply to the real world in the first place. The AI's that we have today would be unable to be governed by any of the 3 laws, simply because AI's do not work that way, and are nowhere that robust. I think the power switch is the best alternative.

As for robots paying taxes, that just sounds like licensing fees, and I think we can do without those.

  21. Re:i always hated tape on Cassettes Are Back, and Booming (fastcompany.com) · · Score: 1

So many different ways audio quality on cassette can suck:

Tape stretches - audio slows down
Tape creased - muffled audio or dropouts
Reels not turning smoothly - WOW and FLUTTER
Track mis-alignment - crosstalk from a song on other side of tape (played in reverse)
Broken tape - Sure, you can maybe splice it back together, but unlike film, you're going to notice the gap.

Don't leave it in your car on a hot day - will melt
Don't leave on top of your speaker - magnetic field will affect it.

And *NOBODY* ever properly cleaned the pinch roller and capstan on their player (especially in car radios - It's just too difficult to get into those), causing increased risk of your tape being eaten.
Also, so many tape problems will affect songs on BOTH sides of the tape.
