Tuition is not a problem. There are plenty of foreign students at US universities that are not paying tuition.
I think the underling problem is US education from the 1st grade on.
They have been trying to fix US educational system forever and noting is working, which leads me to believe that nobody wants to fix the system they just want us to believe that they want to fix the system.
So reduced tuition will not fix a problem you need to educate people from early on so they are capable and willing to learn.
If you enjoy AM talk shows try http://www.radioyourway.com/ It record AM, FM or line input at programed time. I have one of these and it works great especially for these late night shows. I have been looking for a long time for AM recorder and this one is the only one that works with AM.
"a program that translates requirements (in English) to code"
Why not write requirements in code.
Once you write requirements in code there is no need for writing the actual code.
Therefore eliminating the translator, problem solved.
Also as the added bonus you can eliminate the programmer since the code has been written as requirement have been done.
I think Borland was the first IDE type interface.
I am not sure who invented basic but it was not Microsoft.
They modified it took IDE idea from Borland and called it Visual Basic.
Yes they did, but you had to buy their CD (not much flexibility but many $'s).
So if you like to work out to Polka music you are stuck.
With this you can burn your own as many times as you like
and supper impose your workout routine on the same CD.
How about stealing the carts. Hooking them all together to create a supper computer and then take over the world.
How about all these homeless people walking around with their high tech carts telling them what is on sale that must be pretty annoying
especially if you got no money to buy the stuff.
How about who cares. Lets move on to something more interesting.
We are a major supplier to Automotive industry.
Linux has been part of our manufacturing process for a while now with great success.
We got about 30 manufacturing machines running Linux, with more to follow.
This allowed us to save substantial amount of money and do things that
we could not do otherwise.
If every company has a hidden motive than- Joel must have one, since he is writing this article.
He owns his company (I think) wouldn't his time be better spend writing code, running it ?
Or is it possible that sometimes we do things whether we get paid for it or not.
I like to write code. You like to collect stamps.
These are hobbies that take time and we enjoy.
I do agree most big companies don't do things because it is morally the right thing to do.
They do it to make money.
Microsoft is scared (and lying).
For a multi-million $$ company that is all they can come up with.
If Linux is so bad how come it works so well for us.We are using Linux on automotive assembly equipment 20 machines+, eventualy 100+. And it is working great.
Development problems-some problems, but no different than any other OS.
No single source for tools, GUI etc.
So this is bad, choice is bad, it is if you want 100% of the market.
Yes they mention it cost a lot, o wait we paid $2.00 for those blank CD.
I thought they said CE was great.
I guess it does not exist now.
CE what is that. There was no CE.
I bet none of these had Solitaire. If they included some free time waiting games they would have been a success.
After this slip up http://www.theonion.com/content/video/diebold_accidentally_leaks Diebold should be cheap.
If you like Faynman here are some of his lectures. http://vega.org.uk/video/subseries/8

This is a good start. pvbrowser . It uses qt as the gui builder, but design has some good ideas and execution is fast.
Planar & elographics driver works very nicely. I never used calibration software, but I think there is something out there.
Long live the penguin.

Try Casio Easy Rec. It is a calculator watch. It also records up to 30 secons of sound. KOOL.

No, as usual Microsoft stole somebody else's idea. i2workout
EU will have meter, liters - metric system and Linux as OS.
