I've tried it in beta, and let me tell you, it's garbage. The framerates on Quake and Everquest went straight to hell, and don't even start with the Region 4 DVDs. Even when I did the old apt-get install to get my Debian distro up to snuff, it just wouldn't work the way that my previous ATI card did (the Windows XP drivers were better on that one as well).

So I recommend that you skip this revision and wait for something better.

The good news about the acquisition (if it happens) is that the code is still GPL, so if they fuck it up, so what? Someone else can distribute. I think this could be a positive thing.

  24. You sexist prick. on The Ultimate S.U.V. · · Score: 1
I'm going to say this, and it's probably sexist, but screw you if you have a problem with it

    Well screw you too.

it's the way I feel. I don't like women drivers. Not all women are bad drivers, but all bad drivers are women, it seems to me.

Oh yeah? What about the MAN who threw that sweet little dog Leo into traffic and snuffed his life out, just because he couldn't look in the fucking mirror when hitting the brakes? Was he one of your brilliant drivers-with-a-penis?

  25. I resent the underlying sexism of your comment. on The Ultimate S.U.V. · · Score: 0, Troll
Soon to be seen in a grocery-store parking lot near you driven by a harried woman with 3 kids, one of whom is screaming, the other watching a DVD, the third throwing items out the window while Mom attempts to talk on her cellphone, drink her double non-fat latte, fish a hairbrush out of her purse, ...

The clear implication of your comment - that mothers who drive with their kids are dangerous, distracted drivers - is patently false and I suspect based on a subtle anti-woman bias.

Mothers are if anything more conscientious drivers than the public at large - and certainly more conscientious that the young, single men who populate websites like slashdot.

Mothers with kids have fewer accidents, because they are focused on taking care of their children, and protecting them from the hazards of the road (as well as movies, books, etc.). You could look it up.

The vehicle of course will never see anything rougher then the family's paved mini-mansion driveway ...

Again, you are making the highly sexist assumption that mothers don't drive off-road, or drive in the winter (do you have snow where you live?), or go camping with their children. Think again - mothers can do all this and more.

So lose your attitude about SUVs. For some people, mothers included, they are the only vehicle that makes sense.
