  1. How does crytography make you a good CS student? on Cracking Crypto To Get Into College · · Score: 2, Interesting

I think they were watching that part from a beautiful mind, where John Nash saw the numbers lighting up that were the correct sequence of numbers. Is that what they're hoping for? Come on, CS has alot more to do with other things than crytography. We have crytography here as a two credit hour seminar in CS. Figuring out an encrytion key != brilliant computer science student. More likely means that they are good at figuring out patterns. What about the 7 bridge 2 river problem from discrete math. That would be a more logical problem to try.

  2. Re:If AOL bought red hat, wouldn't that be good on Alan Cox to Leave if RH AOL Buyout Happens? · · Score: 1

I wasn't truly talking about MS buying a linux distro. I was saying, hypothetically, that if they did, such as AOL/TW is doing now, do you think that would equate to a "good thing", and if not, what makes anyone think that AOL doing it is a good thing.

  3. If AOL bought red hat, wouldn't that be good on Alan Cox to Leave if RH AOL Buyout Happens? · · Score: 1

If microsoft bought Red Hat would that be good? Not only would they have Windows for the people that wanted it, they'd have their own linux distribution. Not saying that AOL/TW is in any way akin to Microsoft, but who knows, they are a big buisiness.

okay, Anonymous Coward, let's start from the beginning. This movie has been planned long before Septemer 11. Also, the war in Afghanistan is a justified excercise. I'll bet if your mom was in the WTC, you'd be wishing we'd nuke Al Queda wherever they may be found, but no, you're just some fucking idiot, mouthing off "Anonymously" on Slashdot. You don't deserve to live America.

"Anonymous Coward". It's apparent that you're a total pussy, and that you do your country disservice by making such remarks with the name Coward right under them. You seem to be into generalization, so I guess we'll put you all in the same boat too "Coward". Just don't go putting bombs in your shoes and trying to get on a plane. You may not be the same nationality as that dumbass, but you sure seem the same type. You're too scared to post on Slashdot with your real name, then talking about soldiers killing people in self defense. You seem like the type that would shoot your own mother to save your own neck. Shut the fuck up. I'll get modded down, but this is worth it, you pathetic smegma ball.

  7. No good can come of this on Warnings to Red Hat about AOL Buyout · · Score: 1

How different is AOL from the Microsoft Corporation that you claim to hate? I get like 15 AOL discs in my mail a week. Worse than spam in my e-mail. Their products suck as bad as Microsoft's. They are probably just as evil as Microsoft concerning their buisiness practices, just not as publicly scrutinized....yet. If they ever got to be "The Monopoly" they would be exactly like Microsoft, except for one thing, they would own a Linux Distribution. Think about it.

  9. Anyone ever heard of Falun Gong? on China Orders E-Mail Screening · · Score: 2, Informative

Or Tienemen Square? This just doesn't seem like such a big deal for that government to do something like that, being that they've done much worse. Let me give it some clarification. Millions of chinese practice tai-chi, and it is one of the government sanctioned religions (not actually a religion, more of an excercise program designed to increase spirituality). There are only a few sanctioned religions, and any other religion is outlawed. Falun Gong is the same type of thing as tai-chi, it is based around movements promoting spiritualism, but since it is not a government sanctioned religion, people that practice it get beaten, killed, put in prison with no trial, women have been raped by police, and followers have been put into mental hospitals, until they denounce the religion. So if you ask me, screening e-mail, what a joke of a post when talking about how evil china's government is. Oh yeah, and also what a joke comparing America's government to China, America's government may do some bad things, but they are no where near on par with China's.

  11. Napster used to rock.... on Review of Pay Napster · · Score: 1

Napster was the best thing around when it came out. Now, since it's fall, I've tried all the other programs of the same type (imesh, kazaa, gnutella, bear share, lime wire, and several others) and since that time, the old napster is by far, one of the worst file sharing programs out there. Nothing was worse than downloading a song for an hour on my 56k, and the song is cut off near the end,or your download got messed up and you had to start over at the beginning. That would be a serious pain in the ass if I still had to go through that. I must say that I truly like resumable downloads and downloading the same song from more than one source much better than the old napster, so I'm sad to say, there is no way in hell I'll pay for this.

Oh yeah, and please correct me if I'm wrong(cause I'm really not sure, and am too lazy to check it out), but wasn't kazaa ordered to be shut down by a judge, lest they have to pay some outrageous amount daily? I don't know if you've checked, but they're still up, and I'm still not paying for it. I wish napster had balls that big.

  13. That just sucks on LindowsOS.com Email Lists Collected For MS Suit · · Score: 1

Some of the things windows has done, bundling Internet Explorer with windows, those "supposed" anti-Linux e-mail's, stealing apple's ideas for an operating system, I can look at those and say, well, maybe that can be construed as Microsoft trying to be competitive. Not that I agree with any of those things. This on the other hand really crosses the line. What need has microsoft of our e-mail addresses, and furthermore why was Lindows so quick to give them up? I probably would have been quick on Lindows side, being that how can you confuse Lindows and WindowsXP, but they just threw there hands in the air and said, here take all these e-mail addresses and we'll change our name. Any other demands?

  16. When I saw the prewiews on Review: Orange County · · Score: 5, Informative

there looked to be all these great scenes in the movie. Like when Shaun is making his tape for stanford and his brother comes behind with twizzlers stuffed in his nose, or when the brother is playing drums on the cereal bowl singing "you don't need collage to rock". I saw tons of movie previews like these. None of these parts are in the movie. I saw probably ten different scenes on MTV and in previews that weren't actually in the movie. I truly enjoyed the movie, but the best parts were the ones in the previews that weren't even in the movie. I found this to be very misleading. Those were the scenes that made me want to see the movie in the first place.

From now on, everytime I want to go see a starwars movie, I'll have to think of the fact that George Lucas was going to put N'sync in a star wars movie. He's utterly ruined any chance I had to like any further movie he could ever make. The only way this N'sync thing could have ever been ok, is if they were going to be filmed being killed in real life, or maybe if they were filmed having their vocal cords torn out by Jar-Jar Binks. That may also help me to appreciate episode 1 in a whole new way. Sure, take them out now, that you've already ruined it for me.
