Yes but they have to spend all that cash on powerful hardware, high capacity disk readers, and network capibility anyway just so people can play games. Not to mention Hi-Def etc. If they have to build in 98% of what is required for an "all in one" device they might as well throw in the software to be able to do things like watch movies on it since they are 99% of the way there anyway.

IIRC many people I knew that purchased the PS2 didn't own DVD players at the time. The inital cost seemed expensive but if you subtract the cost of a new DVD player it no longer seemed quite so expensive. This may again prove to be the case with Sony and HD-DVD.

  2. What was wrong with Ram Air? on Steam Hybrid Car from BMW · · Score: 1

You have people using exhaust to spin a turbo charger to force in more air, and then using an intercooler to cool down the air that is too hot. You have a $3,000 setup and still add some resistance in to the exhaust system. So why not improve HP with forced air induction instead for 1/10th of the cost of a turbo charger/intercooler?

The idea as a whole is new, but the individual parts taken separately might not be. A toaster uses energy from friction created by passing electrons through metal, and so does a light bulb, but one wouldn't necessarily be prior art for the other. The HEMI isn't the first gasoline powered combustion engine, but that does not mean it isn't unique enough to have a patent.

I have seen guides with this in mind but they are mostly all crap. The task is not hard and I see people clearly explain it over and over to people on web boards but I have yet to see a _good_ website where I can just say to them "go here http:"

Certianly if people can spend billions of dollars and have hundreds of orginizations to clean up the damage these systems cause than someone can write a simple to follow guide for the end users that do care...right?
