about.com has a website dedicated only to inventers who are black. As does blackinventor.com and a number of other large universities. There was an article about an MIT student just a short while ago that mentioned (albeit with tact) the students black ethnicity.
Googling for "black inventors" returns 7,700 results, the same search for "white inventors" returns 35!
Let me create a Caucasion or even German American college fund, send white students to "historically white colleges" and host research papers on the site pointing out things whites have accomplished and see how long before I am sued, dead, or serving time. I am not racist as some of my friends are black, but the double standards and racial oversensitivity in this nation (US) is pathetic.
Equal rights are not special rights, and separating by race for any reason at all is prohibitive of forward progress.
When one black tells another whom he has never met to "represent" what exactly is he representing? I think we all know. Let me yell a similar comment to an Asian kid and the next science conference I attend, and see how happy that makes the black parents.
What ever virus/bacteria/parasites might be there could have been responsible for extinction what ever life that may have existed there. What if AIDS was airborne? What if mosquitoes caused nests of larvae to grow around your intestines? Anytime you introduce a new species to a new climate, you upset the natural balance of life.
Was anyone else who read "South Africans" in the headline later suprised to see a picture of a white guy on the page? I guess since it's ok to point out that an inventor in the US is black, it's also OK for me to point out that this guy is white? Or is that not OK?
I am amazed that with all the mention of steel/concrete/brick that few people have mentioned using hard or treated wood. Most 2x4's are made of soft, untreated wood and purchased from the lumber yard that gave the lowest quote.
The Centrino is a breakthrough design and aspects of the Timna were used in other Intel CPU's. I think anandtech said their 1.6 GHz Centrino setup is a little faster than the 2.4GHz Mobile P4. It's pretty safe to say that some of the Centrino technology will be used in future processors.
I tried once to boot an Athlon (XP 1800) computer without a heat sync once (just to see if it would finish POST). The CPU was crispy before it got past the bios boot up screen.

Why, who have you met that has ever seen a 32 bit sparc?
Yoper has a banner on the DistroWatch front page. From what I've read here and elseware it's just KDE running in LFS with an installer. Did you notice that every screenshot on the page is of KDE? Where is the screenshots of the stuff that Yoper adds? Configuration tools anyone? They also want a hundred bucks for the distro. No way.
Why did you join the Peace Corps? I've heard some talk about it an might run to some free time at the end of the summer. I filled out most of the application form but now need to upload them copies of my HS and College transcripts. The requirements are the following.
You must submit an Essay. Knowledge of French or Spanish is preferred. U.S. citizenship In most cases, a bachelor's degree Interest in learning another language Ability to commit to two years of service A desire to help others and bridge cultural divides.
I could see 3 or 4 months, but 2 years of my life to be a volunteer? To me that seems like a long time to volunteer for something when you are that qualified.
ISP's figured out a long time ago that people would rather pay for one month of unlimited access than a bucket load of hours that would probably take them over a month to use. People, like information want to be (feel) free.
Are you forgetting that's we generally opose imperialistic nations? Had Iraq never tried to take Kuwait then we would never have gone to war with them in 91. As for now, well Bush is a fucking nimrod, I can't wait to vote him out of office.
I have not kept up on the technology much, but somehow the idea being able to use vodka to fuel my laptop seems too good to be true to me.
The Xbox uses a 2048-bit key. By the time we have the CPU power to crack it, the 500 or so MHz Xbox would be obsolete.

Yes, bet there is a kid who will never come up short on lunch money.

Did you think of that comment all by yourself?

Just because I bought a 64 bit Athlon rack server and an OC3 line for my CS server does not mean I have a problem. You have a problem!
I'm glad to see the research IBM stole from SCO is starting to pay off.
I wonder if this will create a mess for SCO with it's UnitedLinux partners.

Die, and be hopeful that reincarnation does not bring you into the world an over weight, mentally retarded midget.

Now all we need is some photoshop contests and Slashdot could be fark for techies or Linux advocates.
My point is that the user still has to initialize the connection it then accepts. That is not the same as accepting an unrequested connection.

Internet explorer is a client. Good luck getting it to accept connections.
This looks like some anti-MS zealot rallying a million penguin march.
I am pretty sure that Yahoo mail uses qmail. Not as large as AOL or MSN but Yahoo is pretty big.
That is the largest problem with the XBox and one of the reasons the PlayStation has been so successful.
