    on the short side my friend. That means I borrowed 100 shares from my broker, and sold them. I have to pay them back 100 shares at a later date.

    So I have to buy shares at a later date. This is how you make money off of stock going DOWN...

    Well windows is not always plug and play either. I have a cd-rom right now that does not always behave itself.

    I think people sometimes forget they had to learn windows. I recall when I bought NT just to learn it because I knew it was more powerful that win95. It took a time to get the swing of it and its quirks and security.

    But windows can only do so many things on its own. Linux can do so many more it can be daunting.

    Doubt it. SCOX stock is not really discussed by any professionals at this point. it has little to no institutional ownership. The players are ignoring SCOX...

    I kind of think they started this dump AFTER their stock when through the roof. WHy did their stock go through the roof? First profitable quarter ever. Why was it the first profitable quarter ever? Microsoft. RTFQ(Q=Quarterly report) [Sun also bought a license]

    This was for UNIX licensing, little different that the law suit related stuff sort of.

    BTW, you should see all the sub $1.00 stock options flying about.

    Im into these fools for about 100 shares. On the short side.

    Uhh yea, its public knowledge. I been spouting off here for a while about that. Also you should see all the gloom and doom in their quarterly report. Nobody can accuse them of anything illegal as they are doing everything in the open...

    First you should sue them for hacking into your server and reading your files. Were they given explicit permisison to use your server?

    They should pay for wasting your bandwidth.

    This is a form of attack. They logged into your file server with no intention of obtaining a file.
    I don't know, but a lawyer should be able to find something to pound these fools with. Tell them to pay a real person and quit using a stupid ass bot to do the work that requires a minimally intelligent human.

    It really iritates me.

    Weeks? really? Usually electronics fails in the first 24 hours, or its good to go. Especially where there are no moving parts.

    I dont think the added time is a proper measure of increased reliability.

    anyway, PSUs are overrated. I have used elchepos to the top quality units, and found differences in voltages, but not performance.

    I buy for sound now. But of course I dont run any high performance / demand servers either.

    The "second," "third," and "fourth" markets of the Stock Exachage came about in the 1900s. These revolutionized the speed at which transactions took place and took the Stock exchanges to a new level of internationality. Without these their would not be trillions of dollars in the stock markets today in America alone...

    It is notable that MS is solely responsible for giving SCO their first profitable quarter in history.

    Your right. IBM is doing this because SCO is forcing them. Its not a willful and voluntary action.

    OTOH, Redhat filing their 'complaint' is willful. Thats probably why its only a complaint IIRC.

    Its more than that. You move the book around your head. With a computer, you move your head around the book. That requires considerably more energy. Reading is a relaxing activity, in which typically one shifts his body into various confortable positions about every 5-10 minutes.

    With a computer, you can not move at all. That makes it not relaxing, but stressful.

    Well, SCOX is obviously a lying sack of dung.

    They say their claims are true, all the while the insiders at SCOX are dumping their shares of stock. Their money is NOT where their mouth is IMHO.

    Their is no doubt about what is going on here. SCO insiders KNOW they can't and won't win. I hate to see those investors loosing their money, but if they insist on pumping up a company just because they spout off about false licensing claims and suing folks, then its their loss.

    Disclosure: I am not yet selling the stock short, but will be very soon.

    ctrl-alt-F1 through ctrl-alt-f6 shoudl get you to a text login prompt. ctrl-alt-backspace should end X, or restart it.

    i was not forced to exit X to install the nvidia files. but they didnt take place till x was restarted with ctrl-alt-backspace.

    Heres hoping you get a real modem. winmodems are just now getting some support in Linux, under the name 'linmodems'. but they are junk. The timing required by fax machines is very TIGHT. But the OS is preemptive, and timing is not guaranteed. So doing this work in software is shaky. but most of the time it can be done.

    for me, getting rid of the problematic winmodems was a blessing. If you want one, I got 2 USR winmodems, and 1 CompUSA one that I got sitting around. Replaced by my USR 5601B which is a FULL modem. it works flawlessly. no more random fax machines complaining about not being able to fax me!

    I do not entirely agree. Seems like Linux is suffering from a sort of 'problem.' People dont upgrade because it still works! So people are still using RH6 because once it running, its running.

    I installed an ATAPI CDRW on RH8. it was a pain to find the info, but the procedure was simple. I understand RH9 handles this flawlessly. (that is the scsi emulation.) further I hear RH10 will be even smoother.

    NVIDIA geforce cards I have never had an issue with. openGL works fine. havent had any AGP issues and I do use an Athlon. No Dual CPU though.

    all in all its just as easy as with windows, eventhough it feels unfamiliar.

    What amazes me is this was not a hack, it was an inside 'job' if you can even call it a job. So please ./ drop the 'database hacked' tagline.

    My CC was compromised at some point. I am unaware, but CapitalOne contacted me last year sometime and said they were sending new CCs out because something got compromised. Was fine with me, no hassle as they like to say.

    But I also learned that a lost/stolen report showed up on my credit report. Unsure how this is viewed by creditors. I hope its just a note as to why the account was closed and not something that would ever look suspecious.
