Its not that Linux is free. Its more that the Microsoft flogging model of required and forced upgrades fails miserably in Linux. Anyone that successfully installs Linux and uses it for a short while will A. Not need to upgrade in a long time. B. Realize how to upgrade for free.

I like how people feel no shame in telling what customers WILL do.

I think the abuse problem has been mention 100s of times already and your asking whats the problem?
How many people in US each year have a stolen identity. Without the numbers its impossible unless you possess my body, to steal my identity.
Credit reporting agencies that screw up ones credity ration have defacto power over you. They can hose your record if they want to mess with you. We dont elect the people who have control over these privately held records. My credit is my private business. But some for-profit agency controls it.
Lots of problems with this. Not the least of which is the governments inability to secure the system. poor security is worse than no security at all.
Actually no. But the earths rotation will slow due to the spare tire.. Basically it works both ways. We already had a bulge due to rotation, this is from another source.
The poster already said what was wrong with it. He disliked accepting something before he has had a chance to use it. Try reading the post thoroughly next time.
In any event, I agree with posting the license due simply to the fact that software is downloaded and you can not guarantee that someone has had a copy of the license fall out on the floor...But I disagree with the accept or don't run choice. Just give me a simple OK button and clicking the OK button dismisses the license window.
Now you can show in a court of law that I had a chance to read it. That should be enough. Not forcing me to sit down and pull out the dictionary to decipher this legal mumbo jumbo before I even get to use the software. Or say, write the documents in laymans terms such as the authors of THE NEW TESTAMENT saw fit to do.
I am sick of reading all this crap every time looking for the little twist that sells my soul, and all works produced by it...
In the auto industry we have a thing called a conformal coating. Once the component is assembled its dipped in a kind of goo. That coats its components and protects it. However, this renders the components non-changeable so all-in-one boards would fair much better. Plus I doubt these heat factories would like the coating that much either.
I have the original floppy 3.5" drive I bought over 10 years ago. It still works flawlessly. Its the most reliable piece of equipment on my computer. Of course my pentium 133 (OCed to 150!!) still works too:D
Yes, HP could possible assume the exploit is not totally public. As it stands, some random Joe posting an exploit says the exploit is mainstream by now...
True but the main objective is to preserve power. They would have to evaluate if more power is lost in the transmission line, or if more power is lost through the jarring of the flywheels.
Effectively this is like a big capacitor. I surmise a chemical battery would have issues with constant discharge/recharge. Whereas a flywheel couldn't care less.
The flywheels could not go in the train because the bumpy ride would continuously siphon off power, and you know power siphoned off would be in the form of heat. Not to mention that each battery weighs as a small volkswagen:D
Their solution to the voltage loss in the 3rd rail is a half-assed one. They claim the distance between the trains would cause too much loss in the line if they tried to transmit power back across it. Yet they are still transmiting power across it anyway?!? They must plan on the average distange between a train and the battery station to be smaller than between a train and another train, though the article strangely failed to say.
I really didnt enjoy 1/2 the article being fluff about the lack of glory in being a transit engineer...
its a helluva lot cheaper considering they pay no benefits such as pensions. Thats why unions are so great, they work to keep this kind of abuse at a minimum.
Yes, Computer SHopper was like 99% advertising, but you knew that when you bought it and it was definitely fun to read all the cool toys out. That was the first time I ever considered making my own computer. Heck, I think I learned how from reading that magazine...Perhaps thats why they killed it down.;)
Nobody will accept Ziff Davis doing games. At least nobody will be willing to accept that they are impartial. Considering how many of "our own" seem to be bought, Ziff Davis would give the impression that they are pre-bought and just waiting to close the deals.
Personally, though they seem an amazing resource, I only use their website when I encounter software thats not popularly reviewed such as obscure mp3 creation or audio ripping programs, and scanner programs, and web site creation software that I have never heard of. Best they stick to what they do but focus their attention at serving their customer base and not catering to the OEMs. Cultivate a relationship with groups like slashdot, anandtech, HardOCP, etc...
"You can see in the charts that there's actually quite a bit of advantage with AGP8X especially at lower resolutions."
This guy is smoking crack. all of the charts are virtually identical. Maybe a different person wrote the writeup from the one who made the charts?? or hes on the payola. Either way there was practically no difference.
They are not even bound by the statement of assurance. Its not a legal document which forbids them from doing things they deem necessary for the survival of their company.
People are typically ok dudes when all is well, but when times get hard they even break the real laws, so this assurance is meaningless to me.
Its like buying a gun and assuring everyone you will never use it.
I never really liked dragonslayer

I didnt like the arcade game dragonslayer. though it had the nice cartoon graphics, the element of control and response was sucky compared to what I was used to.
I think being in the middle is a sure way to meet death. be one thing or the other, but I don't remember anybody being successful at both, in anything.
Actually the faster a virus spreads the weaker of a virus it must be. If a virus is very deadly it will kill off its host too fast to get good spreading. If a virus spreads fast, it must not be damaging its host too severly.
So his fundamental idea of a fast spreading deadly virus is contradictory.
usually I submit things to a project i am working on that the main developer is not always in favor of. He typically explains why he doesent want to do it, and I typically explain why its a must:D It makes for good understanding of different views and makes the project that much mo better. Thats what open source is about right?
So a new card runs an old game faster than another card? I would hope the new card is optimized for more than just running old games faster. The benchmarks are "totally" meaningless. AS anyone that has read a Carmack plan file can attest.

Our children need jobs too. Perhaps programmers are the smartest employees next to politicians...
Why would the addition of mass at the equator, reduce gravity?
Actually no. But the earths rotation will slow due to the spare tire.. Basically it works both ways. We already had a bulge due to rotation, this is from another source.
No.
Where does the melted ice go? -> equator.
What makes gravity? -> mass.
More mass at the equator means more gravitational force.

When I was just in about the 5th grade their was a stupid saying.
"Shut don't go up, prices do."
You think non-bandwidth hungry users will get a discount, or do you think higher plans will require a premium? Remember this is the good ole USA...
