I am still using a NVIDIA GeForce 3 Ti 200 (underclocked GeForce 3). I haven't overclocked it at all and I still can play the newest games, although at lower resolutions and lower details. Recently I've been playing Unreal Tournament 2004, Doom 3, Splinter Cell series, and some others. Splinter Cell runs fine at 800x600 with everything turned up, or at 1024x768 with some stuff turned down. UT2K4 plays very good at 1024x768 with some stuff turned down, or 800x600 with the highest quality settings. Doom 3 is the only game that really had issues. I just couldn't play it at 1024x768, even with everything down. And it is not exactly beautiful at 800x600, but when you think about it how often can you actually see anything in that game? I actually had to go to 640x480 to turn on some of the higher quality settings, but the low resolution cancelled that out. So I can play Doom 3 with a decent framerate at 800x600 with everything turned off. I'm not upgrading until I can't enjoy playing a game. Half-Life 2 might be that game; time will tell. Actually, I didn't really enjoy Doom 3, but that wasn't the fault of the graphics card:P. I think it's rediculous how some people spend $500+ every 4 to 6 months to get the latest card, but it's their money to spend (and it lowers the cost of the mid- and low-end cards that I usually get).
Like many people, I've had nothing but bad experiences with ATI cards. Granted, I haven't used an ATI card since the Radeon was introduced, so maybe they have gotten better drivers. I did get a Radeon 9200 SE (underclocked 9200) for a friend's computer and it seems to be fine, though we didn't get to test Doom 3 on it. Ultimately, the price is what will choose it for me. If two comparable cards are roughly the same price, I will probably go for NVIDIA because I've never had an issues with their cards. If the ATI offering is significatly lower (say $30 to $50) I will probably go with them.
There was this show on the Discovery channel a good while back where people at a horse ranch were collecting horse semen. They have the male horse in a barn and then bring the female horse to a little booth. The male horse can see her, but he can't touch her. So he mounts a wooden beam and the person collects the horse's semen in this special container. It's not exactly porn, but it's pretty close. Anyway, the funniest part of the whole thing is that when the horse started getting an erection the Discovery channel blacked out the area around his penis. The reason that this is so funny is because a long time ago there was a show about African animals breeding on the same channel. They showed very clearly a zebra getting an erection. It was awesome because the zebra's penis was so fucking huge that it was getting dragged along the ground. I don't know why they would show a zebra erection and not a horse erection.
Interesting observation: A zebra's body is striped, but it's penis is solid black.
On the other end of the spectrum, there is Freddy Got Fingered. Tom Green is occasionally funny, but even I think the scenes with the horse and the elephant are fucking sick.
Not only did you NOT get first post; you missed it by a whole TWO MINUTES. The magnitude of your failure is so large that by the time you are done reading this sentence entire galaxies will have been created and destroyed by the enegry contained in your failure.
For a second there I thought they had created a Nigger in the lab. That would have been sweet. We could kill all the free Niggers in the world and then breed lab Niggers to be our slaves. We could genetically engineer them to be happy so they wouldn't rise up and rebel against their owners. Damn, that would be awesome.
Open Source Software is perfect. Mozilla having a closed bug reporting system is not hypocritical. Slashdot is perfect. The moderation system does not promote groupthink. Micro$oft (must be spelled with a $) is the disease. Linux is the cure. Only an American idiot who voted for Bush would insinuate that Slashdot or Open Source Software has bugs.
Seriously, though, I think it's odd that you got modded down so quickly. Wait; no, it's not odd. It's business as usual.
Blame the people, not the technology, right? If dipshits are using their ISP to spam people, aren't you supposed to go after the dipshit and not the ISP? Because if you force the ISP to lockdown spam, it's just a small step to lockdown p2p (until they push it over port 80, at least). God forbid the **AA force ISPs to infringe on our right to infringe on their copyrights.

For one of my classes, we split up into teams and wrote our own Robocup client (for the software simulation). My team had the best out of the class, but it was fucking pathetic compared to the 1st place winner of the tournament. If you're interested in the software tournament, take a look at the University of Amsterdam's RoboCup page. Their publications are especially useful.
In the upcoming NHL 2006 game, you will enjoy countless hours of pointless meetings between management and players. And you can play both sides! As a player, make a big stink about salary caps and offer to cut your wages instead! Or as an owner, insist on a salary cap and don't budge an inch! If it's on-rink action you're looking for you can play as the lowly janitor, sweeping the dead dreams of our youth off the floor. Only $49.99.
But seriously, the NHL will not be coming back without a salary cap. The NBA and NFL have salary caps and their leagues are very competitive, their players make a good amount of money, and all their teams are profitable. The MLB does not have a salary cap and the Yankees have gone deep in the playoffs the last decade, some players make ungodly amounts of money (mostly on the Yankees), and some teams don't do so well financially (i.e. Toronto -> D.C., Milwaukee).
Look. I am a huge X-Files fan. I have all 9 seasons on DVD (still in original shrinkwrap) and watch it religiously on TNT and Scifi (even at 3:00 A.M.). Nobody could possibly want this movie to be made more than me. However, there is nothing new in this interview. They are saying the same thing they've been saying since the end of the 9th season. The bottom line is that FOX has to give this a green light. FOX is hesitant, to say the least. Over the last two seasons, the relationship between FOX and Chris Carter started to turn south. On top of this, the X-Files has been off the air for two and a half years. It has been all but forgotten by the casual fans (who account for most of the viewership); it is still fresh in the Philes' minds, though. Even if the movie were approved, FOX thinks there is not a large enough fanbase out there to make a decent amount of money. Diehard fans like myself want and try to believe otherwise, but in the back of my mind I think they might be right.
Anyway, "they" have been talking about doing this movie for quite some time now. As far as I am aware, there is no script at this time. Nobody has officially signed on because the movie has not been officially sanctioned by FOX. They are just hoping to light a fire under FOX by talking about the sequel and trying to get people excited. I don't believe this movie will be made, but I pray it will. Even if it is made, Carter has said it will not be a mytharc movie. So we will not see anything about the invasion and colonization (I would kill for that movie to be made).
In conclusion, this movie is NOT being made until FOX says it is being made. End of story.
One year ago today, a beloved Internet icon was shut down in cold blood. The Chistmas Island Internet Administration suspened the goatse.cx domain on January 14, 2004, after recieving a complaint. While goatse.cx is no longer active, it will live on inside us, forever embedded in our visual memories. Goatse.cx was truely a pioneer in modern-day trolling. On one hand, Slashdot tells me that software patents are 100% Evil(TM). On the other hand, IBM has apparently opened some of its patents (but only for use in Open Source Software) and Slashdot now tells me that IBM is Not Evil Anymore(TM). How can you hold software patents, which are 100% Evil(TM), and at the same time be Not Evil Anymore(TM)? Please tell me what to think.

Roland's name links to his old website, but the link in the summary goes to his new website. A GLITCH IN TEH MATRIX?!

Why does the phrase "Amateur Genetic Engineering" scare the shit out of me?
Damn, I wish I had thought of that. They're dead; what do they need their stuff for?
So, I can make people think they are helping the victims and actually not help the victims? This is a win-win situation. Where do I sign up?
