When you buy a Mac it is worth something for a while, check out G4 cube's on Ebay. you still can't get one for under $1000 and they haven't been on the market for almost two years.
I know this sounds corny, but if you really think about it a Mac is an experience. From the interface of iTunes, iMovie, Mail.app etc.. too the keyboard and mouse, or the packaging it is received in. You can tell the experience is considered all the way through. It is a system not just a piece of hardware. Something non Mac users find hard to understand. But it is true.
ads on the top of the page are one thing but, when a page pops up 5 ads and when you close your browswer it pops up yet more. That needs to stop no matter how it happens.
Actually i am a ex MCSE, that and a UNIX system admin that has about 6 years experience with different unicies.
I have always loved different OS's including Linux, but in my experience there is no current workable solution for being really productive at work with out Microsoft than MacOSX.
You can't honestly tell me that 80% of the desktop Linux users, dont have some sort of windows runtime on there systems somewhere so they can hop in and edit there office documents etc...
MacOSX does have some maturity issues (as far as comparing it to other UNIX variants, witness fine grained process control and system monitoring tools, etc.. )
Windows doesn't even seem to be working towards usability concerns of its users, it seems its only design goal is feature bloat.
I feel sorry for Microsoft rape victims, not better.
The real problem is, when i like a song i download the MP3's from the album to check out the album. I now have a very effective crap filter the industry cant work around (yet).
ON the other hand i have found CD's that i really want to purchase through the method, happened more often when Napster was up.
a mac is a whole solution, unlike Windows and most Linux solutions the Job the computer will be doing is a primary concideration during design of the hardware and the OS , much like a sparc or an RS/6000

Java is not open and it has user groups. .Net is just a replacement for Java, that hopes to be faster and less cross platform.

Mac users are statically more intelligent than Windows users.

Thank you fink contributers!!
DD works great in OS_X
dd if=/dev/disk1 of=newImage.iso bs=16k
What IDS do slashdot users use ?
OS_X does almost everything Linux and Windows does. (no rebooting)
thats an intelligent comment,
are you a h@x0r, or uh... l33t
m$ did buy 150m of non voting stock in 1996 but, it was non voting that is aproximately 2% of the companies assets.
