fink is the debian tools, apt-get dselect etc... about 270 packages currently (its been out about 3 months). It also has startup dameons for compatibility that are not included in OS_X / Darwin.
I use Xfree86 almost daily and it was installed on my OS_X workstation via Fink automatically.
It is definitely not a Debian emulation layer but all the ports are managed through the debian tools for OS_X and as a Debian user on i386 hardware it makes maintaining, upgrading and installing a dream on OS-X.
F.Y.I. Apache is installed on all versions of OS-X. It is the single largest distribution of a UNIX (like) operating systems on the planet now. The new iMac is the most beautiful UNIX workstation I have ever seen and as soon as I can I am gonna buy one!!
1. OS-X is not UNIX, it?s a (I believe POSIX compliant) Mach kernel based O.S. much like Linux it?s UNIX ?LIKE?.
2. M$ didn?t port Office to OS-X they ported it to cocoa much like porting an app from windows to GTK on steroids. No X server here.
3. In a Stallman realm of thinking why would you want it, Open office is probably less than a year away from being extremely useful to the everyday user and its GPL.
This really sounds like microsofts spin "just as bad as code red". A corporate child trying to smear their competition to say 'we aren't any worse than everyone else'. I wouldnt be surprised to see microsoft push an issue like this to try to discredit linux. I would be seriously interested in what the link between microsoft and this supossed 'SECURITY' company is.
First they ignore you, Then they fight you, Then your win.

Of course its not going to be fixed if me the little guy has a problem with your software and of course I wont have access to your source code so i can fix my own production environment

Recipient may not use the Software in a live operating environment with data that has not been sufficiently backed up
I hope someone from m$ is reading, I am a small businessman and I do see the oppressiveness of the machine that is called m$. m$ got where it was because it was the little guy working for the little guy. Now you are acting like some of your original competitors and soon will be relegated to your monolithic ancestors.
Take a look at the Gran Turismo series ( http://ps2.ign.com/games/13846.html )
it definately IMHO adds to the realism of a game about a very comercial industry. This is already the best racing game for its physics and realism, I only hope the ad revenue makes it a better game.
My printer (HP 710C) works in linux for the first time, KDE 2 looks really stable and I now have Reiser FS for my 40GB hard drive (formats in about 10 seconds vs. 1 hour with ext2fs).
All of this out of the box that RH 7.0 does not do on my system !!
This is actual freedom to inovate, Way to go Mandrake !!
sounds like they have more of a problem with IBM than with linux.
FP !!
debian ROCKS !!
if its based on FreeBSD where is /stand and the system administration utilities normally found on every other FreeBSD box ?
NetInfo is present on every variation of OS_X much like windows registry.
apple should develop another completely open codec and dont pay the greedy bastards at mpeg la a dime!!
wow now this is going to be competition for internet exploiter

works great for me so far in OS-X
This is a great step but i would love a dselect and apt-get port for FreeBSD or OpenBSD, Two OS's that i have actually used.

no one ever thinks about backups until its too late and there *ss is in a crack.
let the games begin !!!!
wouldnt this technically be an act of corporate terroism(via the new terrist act)?

How about
/usr/local/gnucash/lib
/usr/local/gnucash/bin/gnucashinit.ksh
You could set your entire environment to point to an application specific lib directory and you're done.
Don't approach a UNIX problem in a m$ mindset.

There is a new forth coming Mac OS-X server coming that supports JSP and JavaServlets through tomcat (as well as PHP4, MySQL, Apache etc.. etc..).

Steve said all of this at his keynote address. Which is available online so you can here it from his lips directly.

I would say my voodoo3 2000 is a very nice card. One of the first supported by Xfree86 and OpenGL/mesa GLX GLU.
I would bet that the newest Voodoo5 is a damned decent card on any linux box.
Just my $0.02 worth

I work on the show, and it is FreeBSD.
If we get the slashdot effect, we will happilly switch to linux !!
Why are BSD people always so damned uptight ?
