There were a bunch of macs in the old days that had an x86 chip on a daughter card I believe. The main problem I can see with that today is heat. Macs are compact computers, and they do enough work trying to dissapate the heat from a G4 let alone a Pentium.
Last year's PC wouldn't be able to run the hottest and greatest either. But to answer the question yes, it would, se the difference between the mac and the PC, is when you meet the minumum system requirements on the mac, it will run, and run playably, unlike most PCs I've run across which will just barely run on minimum requirements.
Academics have money to waste? HA! Surely you jest. I just listened to the head of our tech departement bitch about how Microsofts latest licensing stuff was going to screw the school out of so much money. And with the next breath he informed us we needed to calculate out the number of PCs we would need to buy to replace the current lab and prep the purchase order. When we asked why if the licensing scheme was going to fuck them over they were still going to buy PCs, we were told because the initial cost is smaller so it looks like we're spending less.
Plenty of numbers to back it up, just take a look at any school. Heck, my old highschool just last year finaly phased out the old LCs. We're talking computers that have gone from being th eprimary work stations to library terminals, but were still in everyday use. The only PCs that old in the school were in the basement holding up tables.
Actualy....... if that tech summit I was at a few years back is any indication, then yeah it is kinda hard to imagine, but thankfuly we had a copy of SuSE and unrestricted access to the con computers
Don't think the Ti Books are due for an update in the very near future. They just revamped them in Nov, and then again added soem extra bits just recetly. I think they'll sit on these till at least late summer.
For a laptop, espesialy a sub notebook, and for people who don't plan on watching movies on their computer, a 12 inch can be just fine. Infact, 12 inches for most things is more than enough for a laptop. Check out an apple powerbook to see just how far 12 inches can go.
Editors of top science magazines have voiced concern terrorists could use studies they publish to help make chemical or biological weapons.
Because of this fear a statement has been signed by editors of leading science publications urging cautious self-censorship.
In otherwords they're asking people to carefuly consider what they put up for publication in a public sience journal. There is nothing about stoping flow of information between researchers or auto censor. It's all about SELF censor.
There was an analysis written regarding the phrase "Life, Liberty and Persuit of Happiness" and it essential boiled down to this. Those words were chosen very specificaly and placed in the order that they were specificaly. That the order is indicative to the order which they must be considered:
Right to Life: This must be preserved at all costs, your life and the lives of those arround you are of upmost importance. All else pales in comparison, for without Life, all other rights are useless.
Right to Liberty: Your life havign been secured, your next thought should be liberty. All the freedoms greanted by the constitution etc. For it is impossible to persue the last god given right without Liberty.
Right to the Persuit of Happiness: Now you are truely free to try to make yourself happy, but only in so far as you do not infringe on the first 2 rights. In otherwords, if somethign done to ensure life and liberty does not make you happy, that's too bad.
Steve owns a private jet (forget who boght it, the fact is it's his). His company feels they could use such a jet, so steve is going to rent it. And this is odd how?
Preferences => dock => turn magnification off => turn auto hide on. Yellow minimizes the window and places it in the dock next to the trash can (the little divider in the dock seperates applications from folders and windows). Maximize maximizes the window to fit the content, not to fill your screen. As for the commands, they all seem pretty universal to me, I think you're just trolling.

True fun is nursing an SE into running i think OS 8 was what we finaly got on there. Lot's and lots of mini add ons, but we got it, it was cool. It also was unusable, but that's another story.
As someone else pointed out, Pixar using Xserves would have resulted in possible conflict of interest issues since the job was given to a low bidder. Sort of like you can't bid on your own auction.
Of course, I would be more worried that it's the techs that are installing this sort of software. These people have all the keys to everything and admin acess on machine (I know, I'm one of em). But, I guess you can't secure for everything now can you.
Maybe, but I have a hunch if Apple was raping the consumers the way M$ does, most people wouldn't notice or care because most of the time, their products are worth using.
I could easily argue that rules banning teachers from hanging a cross above their desk, from decorating their class rooms during holidays and laws which move to drive all mention of religion out of every social forum a promotion of Atheism. In that case all of those laws would be unconstitutional.

Just compensation is decided by the courts. If you believe for a minute that 2 bits would stnad up in court, I have a bridge in brooklyn real cheap

Trust me, schools don't waste money.

Only a 12 inch display?

True, you do have a right to fight for your liberty at the expense of your life, but not at the expense of anothers.

Exactly, the worst thing to happen to the internet was people decided to use it to make money.
Their systems were the first ones to be infected.

Why waste a perfectly good (and excelent) gaming machine on a PC? Why?
We might see a resurgance of macfone. But Vonage has a nice system.

That is a state matter though, and not grounds for baning the pledge entirely.

Where is the one that says in MoneyT we trust? Damn it, if judy can have a religion based on her, I want my own religion too. All hail me.
