The advantage being that if i want to get get HBO Now for a month, then stop it after I've binge watched the latest season of GoT or saw a few must see HBO originals, I can. During that time, if I want to prioritize the viewing, I can disable my Netflix account, reducing my cost. After I am done with GoT, I can turn on Netflix, or maybe not - maybe I want to activate my account on Hulu again and get caught up on their must watch list. Once i'm done there, and I want to binge the new Star Trek, then CBS gotta-watch-it-all here I come for a month.
With a little planning, I'm not billed for more than a month of the streaming service I choose not to be (except amazon prime because it's streaming service is just a byproduct of other prime services I enjoy as well). The point is, I'm never in for $50+ for the streaming services, because I manage my accounts to keep the costs down.
Yes, some people will say $10 here, $15 there, $11 there... next thing you know you're at the cable subscription fee... but why? Because you mismanage your own resources.
"[Everquest] shouldn't be allowed," he said. "Where is the benefit of having it in your household? It's created to addict, an addiction to keep you in front of a computer for as long as possible. It's so irresponsible. It's like waiting for the damage to be done and kids turning up on your doorsteps and families being broken down." He also suggested that social media is "more addictive than alcohol and drugs."
I would argue, that based on what you say (not saying it is or isn't true because I don't really care), then she is in fact a very competent and successful liar. That actually should be looked at as favorable for the job she wants, because every POTUS has lied through their teeth every day of their term, before their term, and after their term.
Walmart in my town does this. And when they do, I ask them to either accuse me of theft and call the police, or let me be. Every time they've let me leave without further problems, because that is within your rights. If they ever take me up on calling the police, I'll happily sit down and wait for the police to look through my stuff, and document the process by then starting a police report against the store. I know loss prevention is part of their gig, but it is my stuff now, not yours... just let me leave.
Now with Costco or Sam's I believe the receipt can be checked as a condition of the membership, I could be wrong on this. They will likely prefer to provide a receipt to your phone or email, but then who is obligated to carry their phone or tablet? Paper, please, or don't check my stuff!
Means those resources are beholden to the government. There's enough complaints about access journalism right now... can you imagine if the survival of news paper relied on such access and spun coverage of specific individuals in high places? It would almost be like.... well almost like what we have now, but much much worse.
The author of this has never played classic games like Ultima, maybe Baldur's Gate fits in here... certainly early Final Fantasy. This style of game play to make the game longer by having a level grind, or early attempts at karma systems, or intentionally difficult encounters to progress forced swaths of empty exploration and mundane repetition in order to get ready for the next stage of challenge. Whether you approach that challenge over powered, or if you took it on as you felt "just ready" was a matter of how long you ran around performing the grind.
This isn't new, and a super disappointing read to realize that the person can somehow pump so many words in order to just say "Meh, it wasn't the style of game for me, but your mileage may vary depending on tastes."
It wouldn't work, because these weren't reviews... It was basically a question: Do you plan to see the movie? Y/N. No supremely outnumbered the Yes (76% to 24% before being pulled) and that is what they are reacting to.
Let me google that for your. RT is owned by Flixster, which is owned by WB. WB, being a huge member of MPAA is likely all too happy to force their subsidiaries to play ball. https://www.theguardian.com/me...
A libertarian might come up with something similar... oh wait... no they wouldn't. The idea should be appalling to Libertarians, as I understand it.
The biggest thing I find terrible about this is that the EMPLOYER should have to pay for this, not the Employee. It should be considered a cost of doing business if a law like this passes, much like it is in the military when soldiers get swabbed and printed when they join, and periodically when they do wellness checkups. But to cost the employee out of pocket? Nope... this is almost structured as if this Livingston dude wants to say he brought it up, but threw in a caveat that he knew wouldn't fly with any voter in order to get it ultimately suppressed.
The micro transaction is a way to ensure the gamer returns to the same game to take advantage of the costly little things they have added. This adds revenue, but also increases the returning player base as those players want to utilize their investment into their game.
This means that for the next big game release, those same users who invested additional money realize that they would have to do the same again... and again... and again... significantly lowering the ROI of each game's annual release after having spent $100+ on the game plus micro transactions. This makes the game much more difficult for a user to justify the cost of leaving the old game for the new one.
Some people have finally realized this, and the marketing guys are losing their collective bonuses to their own success for getting those players to return to the game by increasing the cost and adding to it such "a sense of pride and accomplishment."
An individual is not an approved vendor of the NBA, NFL, NHL, etc. without a license to resale them. This would be considered scalping by the individual and can be pursued. Unless each individual gets a resale license before signing up for the 'insurance' then the Funsurance people are not allowed to purchase the tickets from them.
Shouldn't this be on another site, though? News for Nerds doesn't exactly scream basketball ticket scams.
If MS were to write error messages that meant anything, people might know more about what the problem is. But having a core (and forced) component of the OS telling someone they are offline just because the update server can't be seen is nonsense. Half their messages are meaningless garbage now, trying not to scare the layperson, and helping the professional even less with each new iteration.
Another form factor that doesn't fit any traditional slot or pocket in my laptop bag, day pack, or pockets. I'll pass and keep the thing that brought that into my handy all-in-one device already. This is a gimmick from a publisher who isn't killing enough trees to support their legacy business.
Guilty until proven Innocent is not the saying. I don't care about the guy, personally, but really, Innocent until proven Guilty is the saying. What if I were to say that msmash stalked me on another platform, but I can't remember which one, or the date range it happened, and that Anonymous Coward was the witness. Except that AC can't recall ever knowing me during that time frame? Would I be at all credible? No? K, then. This isn't a matter of line politics, it's a matter of working outside the justice system to build opinion on a supposed crime that was never reported and that no prosecutor would touch with someone else's reputation. The whole purpose is to set the stage for trying to disassemble his credentials in public opinion so they can say "I tried, vote for me!"
That's right, your honor! I'd only had 2 beers! The tree my car was nudged up against ever so gently enough to total it came out of nowhere! And those corn stalks... well, those came from the drive through farmer's market where people wouldn't get out of my way. Now THOSE people should be charged!
Except that what the FCC did was remove them from being covered by that act since they aren't telcos anymore. So... states can now regulate on their own. So... stop lying.
Overall, 50.9% of those tweeting negatively [about the movie] was likely politically motivated or not even human...
Or - I don't like that they didn't like the movie, so I'm going to blame bots an Russians just because and provide no proof, instead saying likely so I have an out when someone punks out that I did no research.

Stop being disingenuous with that argument.

Because of bad parenting.

and someone would get crucified if it were one that was less forgiving.

I am happy to now have a copy of the official Slashdot conversation template, thanks!
Since they got rid of "Don't be evil" then "Make everyone hate you!" seems like a good enough slogan.
What, you guys don't have phones?
