I've been looking, and I don't see these major advances between XP and Vista.
For those that need to know, I use Windows exclusively - not a Linux Zealot.
I'm just someone who's trying to see what the big deal is, and why I should spend the money to upgrade.
Wow. You liked The Princess Bride, but didn't like Nemo? Oh wait...you just didn't like the advertisements. Natch. Let me lay out a little comparison for you.
Both Nemo and Bride are journey stories, with their main characters needing to change to arrive at their destination. In Bride, there were two levels of this: one in the story, the other with Columbo. Both stories had bits of absurdist humor, both stories had excellent side characters(the gulls in Nemo are priceless), and both stories ended with a show of honest connection between a young boy and their patriarch.
Frankly, anyone who goes out of their way to style their language flags the Nietzche quote about how the rage against the vapidness of adolescent behavior is adolescence in yet another form. Ahh well. Living is fun.
I guess in the end, I'm saying that if you can get over the fact you are watching talking fish(come on...you can take pirates, giants, princesses, sea serpents, death caves, and derrying-do, but you can't take talking fish?) you might just like the movie.
Oh Jesus Christ. Do you always go down these bigoted lines of discussion? I think you find the need to qualify it because you personally can't connect with Nemo, so you denigrate it. Maybe there's something in Spirited Away you connect with. Cigar's just a cigar and all that.
I've seen Nemo a few times(kids) and it deals with the following issues very well:
Children with physical disabilities
People with mental disabilities
People with physical ailments(scars & deformations)
Loss of a loved one
Maybe you just don't connect with these issues in a personal way. I happen to connect on all four points, so for me, Nemo is the superior film. It has nothing to do with the country of origin.
Ahh fun stuff. I never run into this stuff because all the pages I've had to write fall into two categories: supported by v4 of IE & NS or strictly intranet, in which case its IE 6.
I'll bite. My experience has been the complete opposite: that Netscape has been the bitch, particularly versions prior to 7. What kludges and tricks are you referring to?
False dilemma. If the car could be given the ability to NOT plow into a nice hard object like say...my house, it could also be given the ability to break so it doesn't collide into anything non-transparent in front of it. In other words, I'd rather have your car take over your steering and brakes and stop you cold. That's just me...I'm sure there's something workable here, so long as we're trying to make vehicles not as vulnerable as their controllers.
Fuck you buddy. It has nothing to do with terrorist threats, but PLENTY to do with the auto-targeting system. As for the dick who thinks this is off-topic, well, fuck you too. Apparently you didn't read the article as well. Believe it or not...it had something to do with autotargeting.
Last summer, a dim 22 year old let their dim 14 year old sister slam their brand new volkswagen into the side of my house, demolishing the car, a closet, and a bathroom. I'm sooo damn glad I wasn't taking a crap at the time. That, and I'm glad the dimwit didn't slam into the bedroom 10 feet south of the point of impact where my children were sleeping.
I don't think anyone wishes for or against such things. Face the facts: prosyletization is a very effective force of change. Have you read about the beginnings of Islam? They went from running from their enemies to knocking over age-old empires in decades. Look at the effect of capitalism in the North American native population around the 1600's. They had their own little world war over beaver pelts, for crying out load. Inertia gives way to religion and money, time and time again. Most likely though, it won't be Christianity. More than likely, it will be the current "religion problem" they have that does them in. Oh...for another example, one a little more pertinent: China DID flip very quickly in the last century. Guess I'd feel silly for overlooking that.
By the way...you come off a little flippant, ignorant, condescending, and mean-spirited. I'm not sure if you meant to...just letting you know.
I'm glad you got a funny one in. For stories like this, I make the insightful mod's negative and the troll mods positive. Oh, and the funny very positive.:)
I consider myself moderately conservative. I read the WSJ(quite conservative), the NYT(quite liberal), CNN(exploitive, but fun for sports), BBC(good when the news isn't in Great Britain), and a couple of the local papers for local stuff.
Where I'm from, people read to be informed, not to be polarized. Maybe I'm on another planet...or maybe there's more to this one than being allowed.
Sure. There are dozens of situations in Africa which are much uglier than anything in Iraq. However, there are a few key components missing. Namely:
There is no infrastructure to be rebuilt, it has to be built from the ground up.
There is no education system in place.
It is very unclear if there is anyone we can trust to not abuse authority when we want to hand it over and leave. This was especially true in Monrovia.
Considering the racial politic in the U.S., any pre-emptive move on any country in Africa would likely spark insurrection here.
France considers Africa its personal playground, and would take steps to make our stay there distinctly uncomfortable.
Last but not least, there are an unknown number of health hazards in Africa. I could just see it...after six months of war in the middle of the jungle we finally arrive at peace, only to witness an outbreak of a cousin of Ebola. Just peachy.
The reason we didn't knock off Hussein earlier was simple: we didn't know if the next Baathist nutjob(maybe one of his sons, maybe not) would be worse. We didn't go in there to knock him off. We went in there to knock off him and his power base.
It's amazing to me that people expect things to be so kind and peaceful over there....crying out loud, it took a whole lot longer than that after the U.S. won its independence from Britain & after the U.S. Civil War for things to settle down. In fact, I would say that things are still settling down from the latter...
Ahh well. You're right. Invasions are nasty business. No, not much nastier than I'd think. I think we've had it pretty easy. We've lost more people to murder in Chicago over the same period of time than we have in Iraq. I think the best we can do is set Iraq up with a government and let them sort it out. Will we be sending them money for the next 50 years? Yep. Look at the bright side...at least now, when we send twice what we sent to Israel to Iraq people won't claim we're Zionists.
What has this to do with dumping a maniac from power?
Sources for these BILLIONS going to dictators(I'm sure you meant monarch & president but were in too much of a hurry) would be good. I already know about Pakistan, and no, I think its a stupid idea, but we're sorta in a bind over there. Maybe if you weren't so fucking stupid yourself you could see beyond what Chomsky spoon feeds you. If we cut the aid, we'd lose our control on situations. Are we in the right 100% of the time? Who the fuck ever said that? No one. Why? Because it is flat out impossible to be right 100% of the time. This does NOT mean that we, meaning the U.S.(I don't know where you hail from), should sit on our hands and leave dictators in power. Just because Hussein was the first does not mean that he is the only dictator who will be removed from power. Oh wow...careful with that last sentence. I wouldn't want to upset you.
To be fair, you haven't named the deposing of Hussein as a useless fight, and are thus allowed a modicum of leeway.
I've never understood elitist isolationism, something I have to deal with a great deal at work and here. I, for one, wanted us to knock off Hussein for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the giant rotting pile of corpses buried in mass graves. What's the count up to now....300,000? Sheesh. People have a shit over Milosevic, but they want to cut deals with this maniac. "Oooh, look, we could've avoided war and left this murderer in power...waaaaaah we should've!"
The man is a blowhard. He spends most of his time in his lectures bragging about his book collection and oversimplifying real world scenarios so they fit into his diagrams.
His books are a study in design without content. Anyone who has any sense will find nothing of any value in his books that they haven't seen in a hundred places before.
The man lives off the hubris of managers everywhere.
I always ask if it's Jesus on the line, really excited like. Usually, you get about a five second wait before they say "No, this is not Jesus." At this point, I scream maniacally "THEN WHY ARE YOU CALLING ME THEN!". Most of the time, I get hung up on...sometimes, I get to repeat my performance with their manager.:)
Right. They're embarrassed because the latest movie out of Pixar(batting a thousand, folx) out-earns their $270,000,000 domestic box. Cry me a river. Dipshit.

I was just being silly at that point. Btw-I agree with your statement in its entirety.

Your source paints the WHISC as something that was merely renamed under Clinton. Let's not be unnecessarily partisan.

Drives me nuts.
Thus sayeth Chamberlin. Ahh well...what's to be learned from history anyway.
The man is a blowhard. He spends most of his time in his lectures bragging about his book collection and oversimplifying real world scenarios so they fit into his diagrams.
His books are a study in design without content. Anyone who has any sense will find nothing of any value in his books that they haven't seen in a hundred places before.

That is the true display of his genius.

and to know that Microsoft thinks that Linux is more threatening than you by a long shot. How sad.
Right. They're embarrassed because the latest movie out of Pixar(batting a thousand, folx) out-earns their $270,000,000 domestic box. Cry me a river. Dipshit.
"I am not a crook!"
It's not 0/0, stupid asshat. It's 0/100. Stupid trolls...the next evolution.
If they destroy your hard drive and wipe your computer, what proof do they have that what they did was justified under Hatch's Law?
I am impressed. I bet you even make your own crack cocaine in your own bathtub. Blah.
