  1. Re:virtual valerie on Mac OS X Classic Games Roundup · · Score: 1

What a treat. Just used google and found MacPlaymate. Runs in Classic, but this version doesn't have the sex partners feature.

I can't believe what used to pass for tittilating.

Heck with that. I want an OSX version of MacPlaymate. Anyone remember THAT one?

I still have fond memories of watching the midget with the eight-ball for a head dive in and hump the poorly animated, black and white vixen, while listening to her moan pathetically:

    "Ooh. Ahh. Ohh. Oh yes!"

Now that was smut. No wonder my eyesight went bad so early.

They really need to get it out ASAP before one of these jokers actually gets it RIGHT. Remember, it doesn't have to be as good as iTunes, it just has to be good enough for the masses of Windows users to accept it.

  10. Re:probable causes on Technical Glitches Plague BuyMusic.com · · Score: 2, Insightful

Your post is fairly accurate, but your opening statement is incorrect. The success of Apple's service has little to do with the hardware uniformity of the Mac platform. The AMS works so well because the whole thing functions within one single piece of software: iTunes. No web browsers, no audio players, no CD burning software, no awkward plugins. The whole widget is contained within iTunes. That's why it works. Once iTunes 4 is released for Windows, the same should still be true, despite hardware diversity (excepting for some odd CD burners, which is sometimes a problem on Macs, as well.)

  11. Re:That's why you don't run a company. on Technical Glitches Plague BuyMusic.com · · Score: 1

Unfortunately, I must agree. One of Apple's biggest problems has always been their tendency to release a groundbreaking new product that turns the industry on it's collective ear, then fail to successfully suport or market it before a dozen other companies release cheaper imitations that quickly take over the market, leaving the superior Apple product as an also-ran.

If Apple doesn't hurry up and get their service on Windows, someone is going to develop a similar service that will get it close enough to right that people won't care that it's not as good. Hell, all MS would have to do is bundle a music service with Windows and the AMS is history.

  12. Re:the word on the street.... on Neverwinter Nights Mac Client Gone Gold · · Score: 1

No. That word is wrong. The Mac version supports all user-made mods, as well as official releases. Expansions, however, will have to be specifically retooled for the Mac version, as they apply changes to the game code.

If NWN sells well on the Mac, and it probably will, we will get the expansion.

All we do not currently have is the toolset, and there is already a project on SourceForge that is attempting to create one.

At least the Mac version will hit stores $10 less then the PC version did.

What are you talking about? "Owned and played their games"?! Whose games? Gamerankings'? As far as I know, they do not specifically make games of their own. All they do is gather all of the known reviews for every major game into one convenient site, then average the scores together to give users an idea of which games are generally considered to be of higher quality than others. And while I by no means allow them to "do my thinking" for me, I find the site to be a very useful resource when I am interested in purchasing a new game.

Your refusal to aknowledge that there could possibly be others, besides yourself, who are intelligent enough to examine the relative quality of games makes you sound silly.

Perhaps if you actually purchased your games you might see my side.

So Splinter Cell outsold Metroid in its first month. That's significant. Can you continue those stats? Let's also not forget that Metroid Prime is the second highest rated game of all time, second only to what? Look it up.

And why should it be surprising that Brute Force had more preorders than Halo? Halo was a launch title. Give the people a chance.

As long as we're on the topic of preorders, let's not forget the game that garnered the most preorders of all- Zelda: The Wind Waker.

The way I see it, as long as Nintendo continues to make more money on their console than MS or Sony, they are not "missing the boat" at all.

    Look at that. I'm finished.
