Brother Maynard: And then the Lord spake, saying: "First, shalt thou take out the holy pin. Then shalt thou count to three. No more, no less. *Three* shall be the number of the counting, and the number of the counting shall be three. *Four* shalt thou not count, and neither count thou two, excepting that thou then goest on to three. Five is RIGHT OUT. Once the number three, being the third number be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade to-wards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it. Amen." All: Amen.
Arthur: Right! (pulls pin)
One!
Two!
Five! Bedevere: Three, Sire!! Arthur: Three! (throws hand grenade at the Killer Rabbit)
And a thousand slashbots cried out as one, and unfortunately, weren't silenced, as somehow George Lucas has 'runied their childhood' and myriad other whinings....
BECTA don't recommend dumping anyone, let alone naming Microsot. They instead recommend that savings can be made by looking towards Free (as in beer) solutions.
Microsoft would not just cut off supply to an organsation just because an Employee claims they bought software from them. They would loose to much money for a start, Enterprise agreements are worth tens of thousands, and more in some cases.
Whether you agree with the law, or wear sandals and hug penguins, piracy is still illegal, and if you have unwittingly ended up with illegal software, you shouldn't have to put up with being ripped off.
for christ sake go and recompile your Kernel or something....
For those of us with large datacenters and limited resources, Virtual Server is great for throwing something in the mix and seeing what sort of integration we get.
all the non-technical staff here do, they seem to think that you can just ask it anything and it knows the answer. I've seen some really bad full sentence queries get put into it....

When the record companies sell what i want to hear. everything i pulled off of napster back in the day was 80's rock and metal stuff that has been discontinued. For god sake guys, put your back catalogues on line, (or even press a cd or two on demand) and then we'll talk.:(
Wow, big deal. You can research stuff that no one has ever researched before. How does that qualify anything you can't do as mind-blowingly difficult?
As for a weekend device driver, I'm gald that the dominant software supplier in my shop spends more than 48 hours writing code that is going to be doing the brunt of the I/O work on my hardware....
I don't think Microsoft could do anything to please you; you'd still find something to whine about you sandle wearing hippy.
Look up Chasing Amy next time you're in the video store.....
No it isn't!
It's from the Holy Hand grenade sketch:

It's a BSD license. No one has to release any changes. And whether you hippy idealists disagree doesn't matter.
Glad to see it's not just me...
If you don't like it, don't watch it. But how about you shut the fuck up and let those of us that do, get excited?
And a thousand slashbots cried out as one, and unfortunately, weren't silenced, as somehow George Lucas has 'runied their childhood' and myriad other whinings....
The exploding server one has already rendered me speechless. Why in the name of god do they do it!
possibly, but School's have not been 'told' to do anything, BECTA have made a recommendation in a report.
I was referring to the title, which is complete bollocks, as we say in Britain.

I worded it badly, I meant to cover those who might hate Microsoft with a passion, regardless of how they conduct themselves.

I've seen traders being removed by Council staff (it's in a council owned building).

It means you can mess with stuff without coughing up for hardware first so you can see if it is compatibile in your environment, etc.
I went for an interview with the US Air Force last year and they told me Unix was banned.....
If they'd put Windows on it, you've have bitched and jumped up and down.
They put Linux on it, and you're still wining.
Perhaps the world doesn't actually give a stuff of the opinions of a load of geeks in their bedrooms?

yes :)
The crooks were the ones using the keyloggers, not the people who caught them!!!!!!

i dunno whether it's a placebo, or whether i'm more careful with it, but i think it makes a difference.
