  1. Is analoge music toast? on Japan to Discourage Sale of Old Electronics · · Score: 0

    This event has sent shivers done the collective spines of musicians all over the world. Currently huge movement to resurrect analog synthesizers from the 70's and 80's to capture that unique sound is starting to sound like a crime in Japan and will seriously affect the future of music. Of course, similar laws reflect why you do not see a dinged up car ether... capitalism rules in Japan (are the "fascist"?)>;

    But most of "us" don't think twice about downloading the source and building it. Maybe... We are really talking about several vastly different worlds. Code / hardware junkies vs. consumer electronic consumers. Somewhere in the difference lies the death of Loki. The market they are shooting for requires people running Linux on their desktop, more willing to pay then learn how to build. I like playing games every ounce in a blue moon on my LB, however it gets far more use for other things, and if I'm paying $50, probably go to the Game Cube...

  10. Re:cPCI Cards on Improving Computer Form Factors? · · Score: 1

    That's tricky, one problem is the cards vary in size. If you've noticed some PCI cards are full / half / quarter size. Most of what we see is quarter size. However their are a lot of graphics and data acquisition cards that are full size (very big). So the idea of rails may not work. That said it would be nice to have a case with a door that opens over just the cards. No need to pull the whole thing apart
