Im not sure if this will help, but im pretty sure it does. There were a few rare athlon cpus that had trouble decoding jpegs (the one i ran across was a 900mhz).
Instead of the jpg, you would see a horrible medley of colored pixels... it was horrible;). My quick "fix" was to install mozilla, for some reason it didnt seem to be affected the way IE was.
They almost just had a new customer, until i saw this at the top of my screen.
"Sorry, but in order to enjoy the Movielink service you must use Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher, which supports certain technologies we utilize for downloading movies. Click here to get the latest version of Internet Explorer.
We do not anticipate supporting Mozilla or Netscape in the near future."
Oddly enough, I dont anticipate them getting any of my money in the near future.
This was actually a hobby of mine for quite some time...
I was determined to test every distro I could get my hands on, to weed out the ones that really appealed to me. My typical day involved setting up BIND, Apache, SAMBA, MySQL and Sendmail.
I cant remember exactly why I picked that lineup, but I can tell you that im very very very good at setting up BIND, Apache, SAMBA, MySQL and Sendmail;).
After reading this, the first thing that sprung to mind was portable rogue and nethack on something i wouldnt actually mind toting around. Im sure thats available on [insert pda here] but I already have a gameboy... I wonder if he would be able to sell *BSD carts or something of the sort.
"Frontpage has gotten much better as well, and actually generates fairly clean HTML. No, it'll never be as clean as if you had done it by hand, but it's still damned good."
Liar liar pants on fire!:o P
Im not sure what to make of your post, but can i also assume that you would find partial justification for me to fire a gun wildly in the woods, as long as I believed i was in a remote location, or to throw bricks off of an overpass as long as i didnt see any vehicles approaching? Dangerous behaviors dont cease to be stupid, regardless of how unlikely they are to harm someone else.
At first glance i thought second degree homocide was a little stiff (I would have leaned towards involuntary manslaughter with a more harsh than usual sentencing) but then it hit me...
This asshat was watching a DVD WHILE DRIVING. WTF. Its bad enough dodging people that cant wait to use their cellphone, but even then the eyes are generally focused on the road (Not that it seems to help...). I can only hope that the major news networks pick up this story so people realize how much a careless choice can cost them.
Just thought id add that City of Heroes and Lineage 2 both make use of it, and while i dont play CoH, the audio in Lineage 2 is just short of breathtaking.
In my heavier days of online gaming, i used to joke that if you divided the amount of time i played / 10$, i ended up spending 5 cents an hour for entertainment (a good deal cheaper than going to a movie or the local pub). To the people that really play these games, 10-15 dollars a month is beyond trivial (I paid for 2 Daoc accounts, and even then i never felt shorted), and i have no problem shelling out 40-50 dollars for a new game.
Screw the most popular, ill take Slackware any day of the week. It installs what i tell it to, it compiles 99% of my software like a dream, and i dont have an rpm dependancy nightmare. If you end up taking this poll too seriously, think about how popular mcdonalds is.
Yea, Flood, the album everyone wants is already on Rhapsody. Its no itunes, i guess, but as a mobie tech, my music follows and i pay 10 bucks a month for as many new albums as I choose to support, and a crapload more. So uhh yea, once again, real isnt the company you want it to be, Apple isnt always the best choice, and ill always get modded down. Thx slashdot!
This is a workstation class configuration, its not meant to apply to your casual gamer, its meant for the guys that actually shelled out for an EEP4.
You can also look at it as a means of obtaining what was previously quadro only class quality, which is awesome for all of us maya and 3d max hobbyist;).
At any rate, if you dont like it, dont buy it! For the rest of us, its xmas early.
That any of these new 1gb webmail companies will be around in 3 years? Google has proven staying power, and thats where my moneys at. (quite literally, heh. I actually shelled out 25 bucks for 2 gmail accounts.)
Does this release actually render slashdot correctly? Not a troll, but theres nothing more sad than to read about people forced into using IE because of banking sites, yet i have to refresh 5 times just to keep the article text from bleeding into the left column.:(
I read this on Ars last night, so i would take it with a grain of salt....
Ars Technica: The PC enthusiast's resource: "Now, your guess is as good as mine, but it sounds like this 'Intel employee,' whom the report identifies as a marketing manager, was talking out the rear, as we say in Beantown. HyperThreading, for what it's worth, might 'take off' in the future but right now what's taking off is the competition. Now, Intel may have some mojo up its sleeve that hasn't made its way through my sources, but I'll be rather surprised to see dual core Prescotts in a year's time unless Intel has managed to patent a dry ice freezer for cooling purposes. The future is quite clearly the Pentium M, unless Intel has solved power leakage problems and not told anyone about it (which is possible, but unlikely). My best guess with the information at hand is that this is Intel marketing speaking, and Intel marketing isn't going to tell you that Prescott doesn't have a future. Designing a dual-core, HT-enabled CPU that won't scale just doesn't make sense, and I can't imagine Intel doing it. "
When most people were ga-ga'ing over halflife, i was cuddled in the corner of a very dark room filling my pockets in Thief 1. It really changed the way i looked at pc games, and had the most immersive gameplay i had ever seen... Flash forward to today, and you see Thief 3 (albeit a fine, fine title) obviously rushed out the door, and most of the dev team laid off. What is it with this industries self destructive tendancies? I mean, really. Isnt the goal to make money? And isnt that a product of producing a good game? I just want to scream at my monitor when i see things like this happen. Just remember, the fault probably doesnt lay on the dev team when something like this happens, something tells me a phb thought he could shave a buck or 2 and went for it.

Only on slashdot could a webserving platform serve as a factor in a presidential election....

I just wanted to make the comparison that notepad.exe is 64.5k...

PornDCC|349 was more than happy to send me Sinful.Asians.3.DVDRip.XXX-RVF-CD1.mpg.
Heh
Yes, its a real problem.

That headline caused me to shoot coffee out of my nose, you insensitive clods!
