  1. Whack-a-mole Beijing style on China Grows Its Own Twitter · · Score: 2

Somewhere in China nameless faceless technicians stand at game boards whacking words like freedom, government accountability and corruption so they don't ruin the socialist paradise. Of course a country with no freedom, no government accountability and rampant corruption can't possibly be a paradise for anyone but the corrupt. That is why they need censorship, to perpetuate the lie.

  2. Advance the technical arts on Facebook Locks Down Social Gift Giving Patent · · Score: 1

How does this patent provide an advance in the technical arts? That is always a missing item in these patents and it should be the most important, but it seems never to be considered.

  3. copyrights support art not business on WIPO Talks May Portend Sweeping Broacast-Based Copyright · · Score: 1

Copyrights were created to give artists incentives to create art, specifically writing books. Now it has been warped and twisted into this giant cow that corporate pigs suckle at getting fatter every day. The artists are still starving. Artists are starting to complain about copyright getting in the way of art. They need shorter duration and greater fair use. Our culture is slowly being strangled by excessive copyright and DRM will ensure our art is forgotten.

  4. Who gets to say what's on the list? on Telstra Fears LulzSec Attacks, Hesitates On Internet Filter · · Score: 5, Informative

Our local resource center for our less affluent residents provides free internet access. It is supposed to have a filter for porn, only porn. Someone asked me to help them find information on medical marijuana and it was blocked by the filter. It wasn't porn but it was blocked. I asked the manager what else is being blocked? They didn't know. They didn't know how to change it either. I just hope no one dies because of that filter. Filter's always filter out more than they are supposed to, including legitimate political dissent. How free is your country if the government can control what you see, hear and read?

  7. The Bush administration built copyright prisons on Senate Bill Could Make It Illegal To Upload Lip-Synced Videos · · Score: 0

Bush built copyright prisons for children so now they need the laws to fill them! It's just business as usual.

  9. Innovation Expropriation on France To Launch a National Patent Troll · · Score: 1

It is totally unethical for a government to enact legislation to create a tax on innovation in the form of patents and then turn around and gather all the patents for itself. This is a guarantee that poor quality patents will be issued and subsequently bought by the French government who will no doubt make it a criminal act to not pay them the innovation tax. If France adopts this it will destroy that sector of the French economy. But what else would you expect of the French, experts at shooting themselves in the foot.

  11. Finally the Queen can patent her waive! on Patented Gestures Detailed · · Score: 1

What is the difference between a waive and a gesture? Nothing! A gesture based interface amounts to a language. Presumably users are supposed to learn a different gesture language for each device. And they wonder why products fail!

  12. Let's just have a dictatorship on DoD Paper Proposes National Security Through a Culture of Restraint (and Stigma) · · Score: 0

Just have a dictatorship, no one will mention all the evil things it does to maintain control. What our society really needs is to stop having secrets at all. It's 2011 and a commercial quantum computer is for sale which means cracking encryption will soon be quick and easy. We can't keep secrets in today's world so we need to learn how to live without them.

  15. Why is TI afraid of their market? on TI vs. Calculator Hobbyists, the Next Round · · Score: 1

It makes no sense for a company to be issuing software updates to stop people from playing with hardware they own outright. How can it possibly injure TI if someone plays a homebrew game on a TI calculator? In a troubled economy, how can a company squander resources on hardware they have already sold? This is like a baker who sues you for making toast with his bread! It's absolutely ridiculous! Don't investors look at this say, "TI, what the duck are you doing?"

  16. Re:Null hypothesis my ass on Evolution Battle Brews In Texas · · Score: 1

Their problem is that somewhere along the line some creative evangelist dreamt up the idea that everything in the bible must be true or else how would they know what to believe. The answer is painfully simple, you have to have faith. Anyone who is campaigning for Intelligent (cough) Design is actually pronouncing to the world that they have no faith. Someone really should point this out to them.

  17. The American economy was built on the interstate on Draft Proposal Would Create Agency To Tax Cars By the Mile · · Score: 1

The Interstate Freeway system provided transportation throughout the US so goods could get from suppliers to consumers in a fast efficient way. Breaking this model will break the economy as well. Tax cuts may well spell the end of American economic dominance, not spurring it on as some would have us believe.
