    Open Source offloads the cost of developing software onto the users. As in any project you must do the background and develop a basic functioning program first to attract contributors to your project. Then your development costs start to go down as the popularity of your project increases. Now you have a community that depends on your software so start providing them with whatever value added products you can think of. Maybe a plugin architecture and sell subscriptions to your best work. Use your imagination, that's how Open Source will thrive.

    The less I want their products. Not only that but with the quality of programming spinning round the bowl about to go down, is there anything worth recording anyway? If you do record anything there is that stupid transparent station logo in the lower right corner all the time. What I have been doing is finding something else to do and it works just great!

    A wifi router can be had for $20 if you shop around. Once the drive is reformatted reinstall XP. Disable File and Printer Sharing. Enable the Firewall. The router firewall will protect you while you update windows and norton.
