If the tax crosses state borders, then it should be collected by the Feds
Why insert more ham-fisted bureaucracy when it isn't necessary? Vendors can issue tax payments directly to the states, instead of having vendors collect taxes, send it to the Feds, and then have them send it to the states? I'm not in favor of an internet sales tax, but if it's going to happen, I'd rather not have the feds involved at all, as that will just turn into another cash-grab opportunity when they decide we need a national sales tax.
Aside from it's brevity, I don't see why this is modded troll. An iPad is a perfectly suitable replacement for a computer if the user only uses it for e-mail and web browsing, and will have a far lower need for long distance tech support calls.
Usually the kiosk has a "do not bag item" button. Press that next time it doesn't register that light item.
Our kiosks don't require you to bag an item, it's just like a normal checkout aisle that has a belt to carry the items down to the bagging area. The problem occurs at scan time.
Yes, it's not rocket science. I'm just scanning bar codes, not getting produce or anything odd. I'll scan N items, and then the Nth+1 item sets off the error.
Maybe a kiosk at a hotel is fine, but self-checkout at the grocery store is usually a pain in the neck. More often than not there is some sort of problem, even when scanning normal items, so you end up needing the help of a person to clear the error anyway. Of course the person who does this also attends to a register, so they have to wait until the people in their lane have been helped first before they can help you, so it ends up taking longer than if I just went straight to the human cashier.
Interesting, the fund was created by the Telecommunications Act of 1996 which was passed by the 104th United States Congress.
January 3, 1995: Republicans gained control of both houses for the first time since the 1950s.
The Republican "Revolution" wasn't. As soon as they got elected, they went on spending and expanding government just as bad as the Democrats. There really isn't a dime's worth of difference between them. Romney would have been just as bad as Obama, only in a few different ways.
Yes, I know this was started under Reagan for land lines, later transitioned to cell phones under Bush, but everybody who has one now thinks it's because of Obama.
We don't have a discussion about universal cell phone access...
Check your cell phone bill next time. You'll see a line on there for something like "Universal Service Fee" which is a tax the phone companies pass on to you, so somebody can get their "Obamaphone".
Apparently none of these parents have heard of Facebook.
Except that users have some measure of control over what is on their Facebook page and participation is with their consent. Neither appear to be the case with this database.
Furthermore, they only appeal to the part of the population that already wears glasses.
They don't appeal to me because I do wear glasses. As far as I'm aware, you can't wear Google's goggles and your glasses at the same time, unless they plan to sell it as prescription glasses as well.
Are you not familiar with iWork? (Numbers, Keynote, Pages)
You missed the keyword: good. I own all three, and Keynote is the only one that's worth anything. I use Numbers to update spreadsheets I want to have on my iPhone because of iCloud functionality, but I'd never use it for anything important.
All Microsoft would have to do is offer better functionality than Apple's offerings do. I upgraded Numbers both on my iMac & my iPhone to the tune of $30 so I could take advantage of the new iCloud features, but I'm sorely disappointed. The iPhone app is atrocious. Spreadsheets just sort of float on the screen. You'd expect them at least to be anchored to the top & left like most other spreadsheet programs I've downloaded are. If I would have known it was that bad, I would have passed on it.
There is no way in hell a cow is going to poop in a specific place. They crap everywhere, constantly. It's just their response to most events.
My grandparents had a dairy farm. The cows were kept in a pasture, and they went everywhere. I even witnessed cows standing in a pond, crapping & peeing at the same time they were drinking the water. They really just don't care.
I'm not disagreeing with you necessarily, but the HTML & CSS segments shouldn't take anyone more than a week, then you could dive right into the JavaScript part.
Codecademy is o.k., but I think they start off on the wrong foot. It would be better if they went HTML->CSS->JavaScript instead of JavaScript->HTML->CSS. That way you could ease into things, and then incorporate JavaScript into your web pages from the get-go. For a beginner, they might not have any idea of what the point is behind learning JavaScript and how it is used in the real world.
My wife & I are enjoying Fringe quite a bit. We're currently watching it on Amazon Prime. We're on season 3. Guess I'll have to avoid the entire rest of this thread so I don't see any more spoilers...
You live in a deluded fantasy that free market and zero regulation means honest brokers and business ventures. Grow up and get passed Friedman's fallacy along with Ayn Rand.
Your use of straw man arguments is an obvious sign of maturity...

A 3D printer that can create rotating paper guns would be even better! Could make a sequel for that Jackal movie with Bruce Willis.
You're just trying anything you can to get 3D printers banned, aren't you?
That still won't stop DHS from ordering one for every security line.
An iPad is a poor PC replacement for most old folks. They don't need to be doing tasks like email on a small screen with a touch "keyboard".
Yes, hopefully some day somebody will come up with a solution for that.

Not true, and you should know why.
To clarify, by participation I mean joining Facebook. Nobody is forced to have a Facebook page.

The fact that Rep Ed Orcutt (R â" WA) wants to tax bicycle use is not extraordinary.
Yes, it actually is. Why not just tax running or walking while you're at it? Or simply cut to the chase and tax breathing?

by using a handle (pseudonym) and never your real name.
It's a lot easier to connect the dots than you might think...

They all die in the end, its quite sad.
So just like in real life, eh?
Fringe is the best show I've ever watched.

I haven't played Portal 2 yet, you insensitive clod!
