    I often see people leaving a company and then returning at a much higher level a few years later, something like "internal promotion" cannot beat the "go away and then come back" strategy.

    What you need is a robot able to expand his vocabulary by having the ability to learn "new words", with neural networks for example. That's nice. Fixed vocabularys are ... duh

    And it's built on Linux- a USB keyboard is all you need to get to a command line! So no advantage facing a PC with Linux (for half the price) ?

    I'll give ya an example : At my company there has been released two times a warning saying: "if you got win98, don't istall IE6(or summit like that) coz it might cause the need of a reinstallation"

    4 reinstallations done so far.....

    Probably not the case with most people that read slashdot but there are millions of users that are just "plain users", they don't care for programming / development / OS's etc etc ... they just use the PC for mail, browsing, chat and NOTHING MORE(for the simple reason that is all they need really).And they feel 100% safe for having their antivirus updated. So if a friend says: Hey, use this, it will get better, why not ?!? And imo it's not a matter of stupidity, a person that sells cars has a better chance of making a better bargain when buying a car. (no 100% direct analogy to the subject in this example:)

    why not create something diferent like Apple did with osx ?

    I mean center every single thing on the "start button" (even to shutdown, heheh) isn't very clever anyways .....

    Wide spread mass industrial pollution with NO regard to the enviroment is seen on both ends, the capatilist and the COMMUNIST side

    I don't think it has to do with politics, it has to do with the fact that both of them have got industries :p And the point is: doing ZERO do deal with industrial residues.

    Toxic garbage has to be dealt and everybody knows that the cheapest solution always comes first... The transfer of hazardous waste is restricted by a 1989 treaty known as the Basel Convention, but the United States has not ratified it. why am I not suprised??

    When you go see the boss (the money guy) it makes all the diference. Is that sun (or other top company) certificated ? no, it's opensource. Not the same thing ...

    optical MS mice are very very nice. In terms of shape and precision. I perssonaly use logitech wireless optical for "work" and razer boomslang 1000 for games. But maybe that's because i've gone anti MS lately :))))

    Not allowing ppl under 18 to go to a store and buy such a "violent game" has nothing to do with that same ppl under 18 playing it or not. They can ask an older friend, download from some warez site, make a copy etc etc ...... Besides violent games are really "kid stuff" compared to some TV reports we see :)

    Like USA, who refused to sign the paper concerning that issue. But then again it's an republican president now, meaning WEAPONS WEAPONS... like that stupid anti missile shield, when everybody know that the most dangerous attacks come from actions inside the country not outside, like Olkahome, Wold trade center etc etc ..... hmm i'm going off topic in here so I will just shut up :)

    true true, but that's very hard to acomplish, imo it's very hard to beat apple ease of use ( they say the "legendary apple ease of use") and the top behavior of the desktop in osX. (macintosh peep talking as you have probably guessed anyway). That happens because having lot's and lot's of open source programmers for Linux and having a professional team just to design the desktop are tottaly diferent things., example: Nautilus.

    and loose the "hardware" control ? besides it's an marketing issue..... For the same reason iPod ( best MP3 portable device ever, imo) doesn't has suport for "non-Macs". Macintosh builds products for their clients, not fot other people. It's arguable if that's good,bad,stupid,smart,elite behavior,they don't stand a chance, they think some people deserve windows, they don't care etc etc ... but that's the way it is :)

    LOL yer and Outlook (Where do you want your files to go today??) is secure, so is IIS and VBA is the best programming language ever made. LOL Or better, you have NEVER managed an windows server, that's for sure. Because : well I have the misfortune of sometimes having to do it :((, when I can't pass it to the some other work mate and go back to Solaris :)

    well if by less software you mean outlook express, microsoft visual studio, VBA crap, acess and such, then that's a point to apple :)
