    I'm not sure how this is a victory, now instead of someone giving out real pills (granted to people who might not/should not be taking them) now people might start buying these pills from some other country, where they turn out to be something far worse for the user's health..

    Well i worked for a rather large AMC theater as well as an independant.

    Local management at the AMC doesn't set the prices themselves, but make suggestions to head office where they approve it. Same goes for concession prices. All in all the prices are set by the theater chain and not the distributors.

    Nope, 85% of the ticket price goes back to the distributor (for the first week), then that percentage drops. The price is infact set by the theater (or the theater's owner, same thing). The distributor generally rewards theaters with higher prices with better movies since it means they will be making more money per ticket, which helps the increase of prices.. but the distributors themselves, do not set the price.

    I know this because i've worked at several movie theaters in management.

    Actually it's the individual movie theater that sets the ticket price and rules. Not the producers of the film.

    If i wanted to start a steel mill, you think i could do it with less than $1,000,000? Good ideas are nothing unless you have the means to put it into action. Blaming a company for raising the standard of living is rediculous.

    I've worked with mambo before and found it to be one of the most bloated peices of php code i've ever seen.

    when loading a (supposedly) static page, there was more than 1000kb of included code being executed.. for a _static_ page.. that's insane. php isn't precompiled, so just imagine compiling 1meg of php every time someone requests that page..

    you use the word "develop" when you should be saying "invent"..

    xerox might have invented the GUI, but apple improved it significantly, plus the fact that it was a doomed xerox project that would have died and the GUI would never have been (had apple not used the idea).

    If you are going to be broadcasting radio waves (on public channels) in all directions from your house, you had better be ready for someone to pick them up and use them. Ignorance of your own technology is not a reason to get mad at people who can hear what your router is saying..

    if i leave my blinds open and watch tv (that's visible from the street) can i get pissed off if someone stands on the street looking in and watching the show as well?

    The difference being that the router was broadcasting it's availability to people off of their owners property..

    the guy was sitting in his car on *public property* accessing the network.

    it's the same as someone playing their radio on their porch then having people sitting on the sidewalk arrested for listening to it without permission.

    if you don't want people listening then put a soundproof fence up. or if you don't want people accessing your network that's allowing anyone to connect, put a password on it. it's that simple.

    people who use Netscape 2? what are you running? a P1 75mhz? get a fucking life dude, 90% of users on the web today have minimum 500mhz computers with DOM 2 compliant browsers. all of which work with my site. but hey, why bother convincing you, i really don't care if you think my site's unable.

    no kidding, i went i poked around and downloaded the source code for gmail's front end (the 500kb JS file) and it was totally unreadable. all variable names and function names were 2 characters long with hundreds of seeminly pointless functions. blah. what a pain in the ass to reverse engineer..

    i've tried my forum with computers that are more than 8 years old and the site works. i'd say that's legacy enough.

    try visiting ANY major site with javascript disabled..
    gmail, yahoo, hotmail see what happens.

    and as for the bookmarking, well hey, would you be complaining if i turned hotlink protection on my site? everyone does that. get over it.

    spam every 10 seconds? it's an IM that refreshes user status every 10 seconds. ranking mine lower than phpbb shows you're the retarded one since my site takes about 1/50 the server time that a phpbb site would take. i designed my site with speed in mind and that's what it does. don't like it? don't use it.

    refreshes the current page (since it uses a lot of local variables, if you hit refresh in the bowser it kills the app and has to reload everything)

    a lot of movies get produced by large production houses only to be released on dvd and never shown on the big screen. take "Equilibrium" for example, or half of disney's movies.
