And why would I, as a developer, be the least bit interested in some wannabe adding to my codebase. If you are any good and I want your help I will offer you a job. Further, What business is it of anybody in what progress I am or am not making in producing a product that I want to sell. If you can't wait what do I care. If I lose a sale because I am taking to long it's nobodys business or problem but my own.
I entered the IT field in 1986 after fifteen years of doing blue collar in warehouses and manufacturing plants.
With nothing but a high school diploma I started out as a computer operator on the night shift printing reports and doing backups on a IBM System 3. I now earn a six figure income writing software, not as a consultant, but as a plain ole employee. During that time I had only had one period of unemployement (6 months). I ran into more than my share of companies that would terminate the interview as soon as they found out I had no college, but that was their loss.
I am not saying that everyone can or should take this route but to claim that you must have a degree is false.
Your best evidence for this government intrusion into our lives is a 5 year old Will Smith movie?
Are you planning on pointing to Independence Day next as evidence for how dangerous computer virus' are?
Back in 92 or so I turn my cube into a cave and dressed up in a wizards outfit for Holloween. Built the cave front from plywood, styrofoam, and felt (I have a sister in law who does set design). The 'mountain' the cave was in consisted of the large brown paper dropcloths that had been seriously wrinkled and spray painted. It was suspended from the ceiling in tent fashion.
Turns out I was the only one who came in costume.
In our organization we do code reviews all the time on our windows code. It may be hidden from the masses but in the cube farm, where your peers are, everyone can see the code.
Hold on a sec. When you say ----they don't realise the Minis are there as advertising---- are you saying that BMW went to the maker of the film and said we want you to use our new minis as the main plot device in your movie?
We used it in an application that treated faxs like email. We sold 'fax mailboxes' that came with a phone number that connected to your mailbox. Using the buttons on your phone you could delete the fax, move it to a 'folder', forward it to another number, forward it to a set of numbers( yeah, sounds like spam to me too), forward it to the number you were calling from etc. It could call or page you when you got a fax.
Fun project. I still have the worthless stock optiosn in a box somewhere.
Take control of his free time? Nothing like a little hyperbole to distract from the issue.
The guy had choices. He could have chosen to not take the job or to attempt to renegotiate the contract. But he chose neither of those routes. Instead he chose to act like a little spoiled brat.
You mean they didn't even give him a trial? You mean they just busted in and searched his place without a warrant?
Just what do you mean when you say he was stripped of his rights and due process?
One assume you know that under reported is not the same thing as censored. Now if someone was to produce some type of documentaion that showed the heads of Fox and Clear Channel and whom ever making sure their news staff did not give any more attention to the stories, you might have something to complain about.
Until then this is just so much whining about people not caring about the things you care about.
you stated:
Why not? Because physical locks aren't black magic beyond their understanding.
No, the reason is that locksmiths are bonded.
You want to be a white hat hacker that people trust and that people will hire to do security work?
Get bonded.

Talk about flashbacks! I used to have several of those as a kid.

Besides, there is a Debian package which downloads MS fonts off the web and makes them available to your system. Not sure if it still works, though
You illustrated one of his main points
Perhaps you could enlighten us with your definition of 'database'

Where does the article say anything about the second amendment? It is about the correlation between gun ownership and crime rates. Period.

You think the phrase "I seem to recall" is all that is needed to back up your statement? Damn, you're easy.

Whats not to like? How about the guy being an ass?
You, my friend, have been reading too many Tom Clancy/Dean Ing novels
Perhaps a dictionary would help you out here. The word you want is to look up is "prototype"
I point to this one quote on page 2 The wonderful side of this dream is that some engineers expect it to be reality by the end of 2001
I seem to recall reading somewhere or other that the pedestrian buttons only work during non peak hours
It's amazing what passes for satire now-a-days
It looks more like they are stifling bug fixs, not inovations. There is a world of difference between the two.

This is filed under my rights online? What 'rights' to I have to Micrsofts network?
