I listen almost exclusively to music podcasts, since I find amateurs talking at a mic only slightly less annoying than professionals on the radio talking at a mic, but just like blogs, the best way to find good podcasts is to find one you like, then find what other podcasts that podcast's website links to.
My favorite music podcasts, though, are: The Beat Oracle (Downtempo Electronica and smart hip-hop) The Data Sound (Indie Alternative with some eclectic touches) the letter g (very eclectic from week to week, could be hip-hop, could be electronica, could be alternative) Space Music (Downtempo and Ambient Electronica brought to you from the Netherlands) Beats In Space (Electronica and Hip-hop, maybe slightly dancier than tBO above)
According to numerous accounts I was speaking many words at 10 months, and complete sentences at 12. I also knew most of my alphabet by two years, and could "read" from the newspaper (sounding words out) at 4.
Of course, the "interestingness" qualification mentioned above was clearly in effect, as my first word was (I shit you not) "titty."
What can I say...some things in your life stick with you.
Y'all need to check out tree wave, a Dallas band that makes really compelling music using C64s and dot matrix printers.
Their single "Sleep" has been in my playlist for years.

except it IS very good! Entertainment Weekly gave it an "A" also.
It's been remixed a little since the bootleg snuck out.
It's been remixed a *lot* from when the bootleg snuck out, actually, given what I remember of the bootleg from when a friend of mine was playing it. The bootleg had lots of orchestral-type accompaniment; strings, horns, wind and percussion...the works. The official release has replaced that in most of the songs with traditional band-type accompaniment, along with some synthesizer. At least two of the songs suffered for the change, IMO.
"Extraordinary Machine" and "Tymps" are the RIAA standard two decent songs off the new album...grab 'em from iTunes.
The guys at iPod Lounge did a comprehensive review of this little guy some time ago, with lots of pictures comparing it to the various iPods and previous GameBoys for perspective. Worth checking out.
I work on dual 18" screens, and I almost never maximize a browser window to fullscreen - I prefer to work in a window roughly 1024x768, so glancing down doesn't pose a problem for me.
Ditto that, on the browser window sizing issue, anyway. In fact, I use the Web Developer extension's "Resize" option to set my Firefox window to exactly1024x768...very convenient.
Know it? They're counting on it. See, they're convinced that the only people who might see a problem with this are those damned hippy stoner kids, who will all be too high today to notice this story!
If the parent weren't modded almost to the max already, I'd be telling you all to do so.
I love my Shuffle, which I've had for about 6 weeks now. The new version of iTunes that they released specifically to accomodate these little buggers has a nifty feature called "Autofill" that automatically changes out the music on it, randomly or to your specifications or in some mix of both, whenever you plug it in to recharge. It couldn't possibly be easier to use.
It suits my needs perfectly. It's like having a soundtrack to my life, with little surprises every once in a while when it digs up a song I haven't heard in a while, even though I may have owned it for over a decade.
It's durable, stylish, and so lightweight I forget I'm wearing it.
If you're thinking about it, and you find yourself always listening to your music on random anyway (like I always did), then just do it.
I got what looks to be a similar beginners' robotics book for Christmas. It looks really interesting and all...but just about the *last* thing I need these days is another money sink hobby.
That depends on what you're wanting to do.
Personally, I was frustrated up until.8, because I wanted my mail (not my contacts) to sync up on my Treo 90. With.8, they fixed it so that you can use the Eudora conduit for that purpose, and it works fine.
I still sync my contacts with Palm Desktop, though...always have, and don't want to change. There's been some good threads on that topic on the Mozilla support forums, though. Check them ou.
That's bollocks. Google Groups, and Deja-news before it, are both News servers. The only thing that makes them extraordinary is that they have a web-only interface to the spool, and they have an effectively infinite expiry date. When you post to Usenet, you're granting the rights to have your post published to the entire Usenet system, regardless of the article expiry dates built into the respective servers. Anybody running NNTP is perfectly justified in keeping your precious little posts as long as they like. As far as I know, there's no actual legal obligation to discard posts with an X-No-Archive header, and it's just nice of Google (or whomever) to do so.
For that matter, you can ask them to retroactively remove all posts from a particular e-mail address, if you like.
Your .sig, dude.
Whoa, I just noticed you can't spell whoa!

Somebody hasn't been paying attention.
Han's perfectly good. He only shoots in self defense, now.
Now, if you'll excuse me for a minute, I'm going to go flagellate myself in a corner for having said that.
I clicked on this in the "Older Articles" sidebar, expecting it to be some sort of new archeological info on The Colossus of Rhodes.

From the "Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose" department:
This comment could have just as easily belonged in this thread, today. It's certainly the same topic as TPA.

If I were an iPod accessory maker, right this moment I'd be working on a stubby dock-to-USB2.0 adapter block for this guy.
You hear me, accessory makers? Get to work!

"undertatement?"
Whatever happened to English spelling?

I'm afraid this one might just get resold...
I can't imagine why I might be semi-obsessed with a giant, semi-cephalopodic creature of god-like powers.
Can anybody help me out, here?
