    OK, i admit to know nothing about depression and little about addiction. I am normally quite happy and stable.

    Again, I know little about this stuff, but I would think that using an addiction to help a depression, would be like robbing Peter to pay Paul. Not really fixing the problem.
    Help me out here.

    A 7-month fetus can live outside the womb. It is certainly sentient and is more more a mass of cells than you or I.

    Your argument is weak and frankly stupid.

    By your logic a new born baby should have no rights, it has no more potential to live than a fetus without help.

    I agree with you but here is the problem:

    You receive spam selling viagra from company X.

    Here's how it works:

    Company C hires SpammerX to send spam selling Viagra.

    You go after Company C. Easy.

    But what if SpammerY is ticked off by not getting hired and sends spam from Company C.
    Or CompanyD(for whatever reason), if you go after CompanyD how do you prove they paid someone to send it. You have to find the spammer?

    Not an easy problem.

    I completely agree, the units are for the most part brain-dead. They do exactly what you tell them no more no less, the problem is there are too many units to deal with so it is easier to just rush and hope for the best.

    Many of the best units can't be used effectively because you have to hand hold them.

    Also, vi is the best ;-)

    Yikes! It seems i missed spoke. Maybe I should have a said most of time when you pay...

    But the software company I work for charges between 1,500 - 10,000 /year, and I can say the support is great.
    You call and usually talk with someone who has a Master degree, who main job is to take care of support.
    Now granted we typically only sell to OEM's and the end users are CS people and the load is not overwhelming but the support is excellent.

    So the business who helped fund the project, through taxes can't use it?

    But a $SMALL_COMPANY could use it make the development much cheaper.

    I guess you assume the worst and I don't.

    There are only a few companys that are big enough to do who you explain.

    Tech support sucks. You know why?

    Most consumers aren't willing to pay for it.
    It costly to the companies.
    It doesn't sell.

    If I started a company with great tech support I would never be able to compete(unless I found a niche market).

    Yes, here is my $250 sound card no better than the other guys $75 sound card but it comes with great tech support. Just not worth to most people.

    Now once you get into businesses and expensive hardware/software the support gets much better. You should also expect to at least $1000/year and usually much more than that.

    I fail to see how either way someone loses.

    If there is public domain software, then a company can sell it cheaper because much development has already done.

    Yes, software companies love to pay taxes and then the money used to create software to drive them out of business.

    On the other hand, I do think it can be used for to help society in general.
    But I feel it should be written under BSD-like(public domain) license, putting under a GPL-like license is just wrong for this situation.

    very common in dogs.

    For instance, Irish Setters are beautiful but the brains have been breed out of them.

    Golden Retrievers have big time hip problems.

    Cocker Spaniels have ear problems.

    The list goes on where beauty has overcome function.

    Whereas border collies are sharp as tacks because the are breed for working/brains. Not too many people care what they look like.

    No what I am saying is that many units are useless because they are brainless.

    For instance take StarCraft, many units would/could be quite powerful, but you have to control every thing you do.

    The ghosts are dead before you can get to them and fire off a couple rounds.
    I should be able to say queen parasite any thing you see, queen broodling any tank you see. Wonder around until you see something if attacked flee.

    Instead you just end up with mass rushes because it is the most efficent way to do things. Thus becoming a click fest.

    Take you click-fest I just want some strategy in my RTS.
