I would disagree. There is a huge difference between open and free.

In open I license my software to another company, it saves them time(and hence money) and they pay me money.

If my company ever goes under or relations get bad then they still have the source to modify if they wish.

Free is BSD I far as I can tell.
GPL is free to use but not make money off.

Though I do agree with your conclusion.

NetHack is a strategy game, with an RPG fascade.

Diablo is a point and click game with very little strategy, while Baldur's Gate is a very good story with RPG chars and some strategy. Not too much, you can always reload.

I have played them all, though I found Diablo II quite long and tedious. There is just simply little thinking involved.

But too call nethack simplistic is to make yourself seem so.

I have two kids (3 and 1), and about once a month I write a letter to them. This is stored on my computer. There are about 50 letters currently have been written and when each child turns 18, maybe 21 and will give the letters to them.
I have them stored on my computer, and if I ever lost them I would be crushed.
Granted, I try to keep 4 back-ups at all times, but it easy to forget to send a copy to work, yahoo, and disk. Plus, my data might be 100k total, it would be even more trouble if it was 100M.
I feel very bad when anyone loses data that's important to them, and IMHO it can be a HUGE deal. Not something to be laughed off.

You also must not have spent too much time with poor people, or you wouldn't spewing as you do.
Most poor people in America are poor for a few reasons:
    1. Bad decisions(pregnant, flunked school, etc)
    2. Lazy(yes i will say it)
    3. Just got off the boat(and if they have a solid family it will usually be just the first generation that is poor)
    4. Incompetent(physical, pysch, etc)
    5. Choice(my sister has little money, but that is because she choose a field in which she makes just 20K; or they simply don't mind being poor, it is not where their satisfaction comes)

My feeling is a very small % in the US(not true in other countries), are poor because they are brought down by the rich man.

My observations are taken from living and growing up in various regions of appalachia.

Of course being poor also needs to be defined more.
