Really? I can only conclude that you are not from the United States. My forefathers desperately wanted the government to be out of the business of religion; they did indeed say it should be that way. They fled from governments where religion was dictated or restricted by the government, disallowing them the freedom of religion that is now guaranteed by the constitution of the United States.
And I completely agree with you on this. Government should never dictate which religon, what you or I can or can not worship/believe.
But that is not to say they didn't want Gods influence on America.
What I find intersting in your post in that America is at a crossroads to choose which way to go.
What do you think America has been that last 200 years? Christian-Judism has always had a strong influence on America the influence is less and les each year.
Do you think the ten commandants were recently put up in court houses? Do you think pray in school is a recent thing.
Do you the Bibles being taken out of school is a recent thing?
When was the Conressional minister put in place?
And yet somehow over the last 200 years America was at the fore front of science and technology.
Take any shred of religion out of the government, but don't tell me our forefathers or constitution says it should be that way.
So do the games at Gen Con revolve around board games(Catan, Puerto Rico, etc), Card Games(MtG, etc), Role Playing(Palladium, D&D, etc), or War Games(Axis Allies, etc), or Minitures(PotSM, MechWarrior, etc), others?
If every game can be found it there a heavy leaning or certain types of games?
Also, which games are the easiest to find game to play?
It sounds like you played Starcraft at a high level.
I am interested in the strategy at the higher levels.
There didn't seem to be much at the low levels, but I am guessing at the higher strategy will be more important.
Were the unique units used?
Or was it a build up of 2 maybe 3 units.
This question stems from units like the ghost and the queen.
I thought both could be quite useful but they had to be "hand held" to be useful.
Having a couple of queens running around parsiting or broodling tanks I would think could be useful. But it took much of my time to make them useful. Therefore I never used them.
Were there some units that were just never used?
Also what made brood war unbalanced?

Think five move check mate in chess.
To perform this 'trick' move you are assuming that the player is not very good.
If he is he will simply block and you will be out of position.
Performing the five move checkmate on an experienced played would be showing disrespect and also a good way to lose.
What about cards? Is that only for non-social people? Even today when I meet my brother-in-law family I got to know them by playing ROOK for a couple hours.
I don't think it is far fetched in the future to instead of asking do you play hearts? spades? euchre? bridge(no one does)? ROOK? To say: Do you play X computer games? great lets go down to XYZ and play for a few hours.
When computers games are played in "pubs" or in LAN parties I don't see much of a difference than cards.
I think you are the one you has put computer games in a niche.
Blame IBMs high prices.
I wanted to use OS/2 but $90 for Windows or $250 for OS/2. The choice was simple.

Except that it is wrong, at least according to most of the forefathers.

No more questions for now.
The Hasbro version truly sucked. And the upgrade Iron Fist(???) was no better. Dogs of War was better then the Hasbro version.
I tried Triplea a few years ago and wasn't impressed, but the latest version is quite nice and I was impressed. nice job to whoever worked on it.
It is also very easy to modify the game stats.
So like the other poster said check it out.
Is there a Gen Con at Indy every year? Or does it move around?
Thanks.
Surprised Arena football hasn't tried to team up with a software publisher to make an arena football game.
No it means you are a dickhead, that no likes in CS and probably real-life also.

I disagree.
Playing the sports is also for socializing. I moved around alot growing up.
Being a decent baseball/basketball player I always had instant friends.
You seem to discount the social aspect of playing any game in person.

Not at all.
But way to put Americans in your nice little box.
Maybe they have a large family, maybe they like the safety, maybe they hate minivans, maybe they need the room.
I have a feeling you wouldn't want to be riding a moped either instead of your "cool" nighthawk 750. Does it "validate" you?
I don't know much about FreeBSD Desktop but I can assure you the user structure in FreeBSD would be similar to Unix aka Linux.
Was Joel trying to hard in this article?
I don't disagree with what he says but this article sounds like a tryout for ESPN the Magazine.
I don't call you lazy, but do you post to every slashdot article that you plan to ignore because you don't have the time?
Holy crap!
Did someone concede a point on Slashdot?
This can't be.
But it has nothing to do with open source.
I could use hpux aix solaris etc do the same thing.
This is a windows/unix debate you act like windows can't do this because it is closed.
Ummm.. what you described has nothing to do with open source software.
Why troll?
Windows 95 would also run in 4MB of RAM.
Though if you ever upgraded to 8MB or more you needed reinstall as it did weird things to make it work on 4.
It was also quite slow.
Screen shots down.
What is the deal with all the posts about transparent windows?
I can program transparent windows using c# on my 2000 box.
Is this every window can be configured to be transparent?
What am I missing?
Strategy in a RTS? Surely you jest.
RTSs should be called RTCF(Real-Time Click Fest)
But maybe he will prove me wrong(I hope).
Fair enough.
But the muslims who don't agree should make it plenty clear they don't agree.
