anyways, i forgot to mention the fact that filters have to be created for computer connectivity; filters that most people will not want to have to use.
PalmOS and WindowsCE are already very established, and people trust/use them. Also, these OSes were MADE for PDAs, instead of being ported.
Is it the fact that it is open source, although windows ce is already open source?
I know you can run more applications with linux on the pda, but how many applications do you actually need for your pda that are not availible for windows ce and palmos?
I am sure that hackers will enjoy it, but is there really a market for linux pdas?
Where, exactly, is the news in here? I saw one sentence about Wine 1.0, saying that it would be released soon and that it will be better than the previous versions. What I would like to see is a feature list for wine 1.0; what will the major improvements be?
Actually, no, Windows XP does not have much acceptance in businesses. This is not because of the technology, but the cost and liscenses.
Here is the fact: for every story of a business switching over to linux, there is another story of a business switching to a commercial version of unix or windows. That is why stories like this are pointless. What really matters is statistics, and percentage.
Then again, it might make some feel better to think that companies are only switching to linux, and never to windows or another os....
Keep in mind the fact that microsoft will not simply stop and do only security/bug fixes. It is now just the priority.
IMO, this was actually planned by microsoft. They got lightyears ahead with their technology, with features, now all they have to do is sit on it as it sells, and create bug-fixes. Not only does this make the product more stable and secure, but they also have an initial standard for things like.net that will not change. That is crucial.
The patent itself is very broad, and at first sight seems horrible, but it is actually going to be enforced in a very narrow set of circumstances. AvantGO simply wants to protect their market share; it sees that several companies are ready to jump on their technology in an effort to kill them, and made the right move.
Well that is the difference; DirectX was made for corporate development mainly, not personal development. If you ever worked on a high quality game, the benefits of directX would very soon be apparent.
However, SDL does have a great niche. While it is not as useful for professional development (yet), it is great for games made by individuals, and it is a great learning platform. Whild SDL is not as good for DirectX for professional development, it is trying to catch up with DirectX, as games like TuxRacer, etc. are developed. This is the direction that SDL must move in.
In order to succeed, SDL must not be forced to be installed by the user; this is what seperates many great games from the mainstream
This is the interesting thing....the question is whether or not it should enforce security, in exchange for usability. I personally think that they should not.
You see, they think that there are a lot of people who are willing to go through "crazy" measures to not support Microsoft. I, however, belive they are mistaken. Their aim should be at sastisfying offices, not individuals.
I found a mirror....google actually has a cache of it, but the actual art is hidden deep into it, but i was able to pry it out...you can prolly do the same..
the mirror is...
Imagine a beowulf cluster of these! In the form of a house! Watch out VA!!
In other news, 80% of hotels near airports have been shut down shut down due to lack of interest.
68794...wait...68809...wait...68824...
ahh, forget it...
No; not profitable because not enough people will buy them; the production costs still are not zero...
Point taken, but my question was whether or not there is a market for linux pdas...i meant "one" instead of "you."
To me, it simply does not seem profitable.
Redundant? whatever....
anyways, i forgot to mention the fact that filters have to be created for computer connectivity; filters that most people will not want to have to use.
I know i will get modded down for this....
but does linux really belong in the PDA market?

Think about it...
It was not original or funny at all.
