    this is useful and intelligent research.

    I hardly think it was intended to be useful research.

    I think they were having fun and in passing they were showing the Rest of The World that scientists are not a bunch of freaks holed up in a lab somewhere doing wierd stuff. These guys were showing the world that they are just like everyone else, no different from a group of folks in the FedEx warehouse playing stickball with a roll of tape.

    I think it is important, if scientists want to be listened to by the general public, that they seek to de-seperate themselves from those with which they wish to communicate.

    You should know that while you think you have solved your problem, the fact is that there may be people who sent you an email legitmately but are unwilling to follow a link.

    I ignore them- email should be easy for the sender.

    As a long time IE user I am normally loathe to try new browswers. Opera doesn't give me enough screen space, Mozilla I found to be slow and bloated, etc.

    Just installed Firebird and this thing is cool!!

    Cookie management, image management, tabbed browsing, keyboard shortcut for damn near everything, integrated Google search, link searching, text searching.

    After years of IE, I finally feel like *I* am back in charge of my web experience.

    I would pay money for this thing.

    Ahh, Slashdot logic- point out the inconsistency of a position and get labeled a troll. I see that you did not address my original assertion, instead choosing to dismiss it with a label.

    I'll bet you're one of the dotters screaming the loudest about 'monolopy'. Were you just propagandizing or did you truly believe what you said? If you truly believe something, you hold that position regardless, not just when it conveniently forwards your agenda. To do otherwise diminishes your position, and for a position worth fighting for such as Open Source, diminishes the entire movement.

    Time to be intellectually honest....or you could just label anyone that points out the dishonesty a troll. The choice is yours.

Like the last poster, your propaganda-induced myopia allows you to completely disregard the truth to give you self satisfaction about your feelings. I am sure that you consider yourself an honest truth-seeker but you allow your hatred for someone you disagree with to skew your mind so badly that you are willing to completely ignore the truth.
