the fact is that there are more promiscous little wenches in the world today, and because it's become more acceptable, and we have more AIDs and unwed mothers as a result. Don't get me wrong, those are probably good things, but don't blame the messengers.
Oh yeah!
Actually, I blame Regan for spreading AIDS, I mean, before him, there was no AIDS at all! Like, maybe 5 people had it.
And when the messangers start to toss out very complex issues like unwed mothers, and focus the blame on ONE THING, you better have some data to back it up.
Which you don't have, I'm assuming we're talking about teenage single mothers. So tell me, what happened to teenage single mothers a hundred years ago? Fifty years ago? Things like forced abortion, shotgun weddings, being sent off to live with their 'Aunt', seem to add to the mess.
The fact is, people reach sexual maturity in the USA before society can deal with it. Although some of the blame rests on the individual, how long can you tell someone with a fully adult sex drive to hold off on sex?
>I think this was an incredible learning experience for John Romero and I hate to see people criticize him non-constructively. Obviously the game did not turn out the way it should have ideally, but the least people could do for his time would be polite...
Gosh, I hope someone gives me 30 million dollars. I would even put in writing that I'll get twice, no THREE times the educational value that John Romero got out of his.
I thought that most people are being polite. The impression that I got is sadness. That all this time we were hoping he'd pull it off. That most game developers that could bring more to the table can't find funding. That despite this game being a flop, He is still responsible for making sure his company will be successfull enough to keep everyone in it employed.
Isn't there a Warranty on the box? If there is, then your 'Mom and Pop' store doesn't need to accept returns.
If they are selling secondhand chips, it's in their interest to check to make sure the chip runs before selling it. They don't have to accept returns on those either.
So, why else would you want to return a chip? The only reason I can think of is that you didn't bother to check to see if it's compatible with your motherboard.

Woah, woah! 'Probably'? You have NO idea how much testing went into this software product. Most likely, they reached an acceptable number of bugs that were not 'showstoppers' and shipped it.
Ok, no trucks then. But how about cars? Motorcycles? Go-carts? For the equivilent punishment that Kevin got, you would be prevented from doing that also.
How about teaching Drivers Ed?
Aparently, they don't even want the 'truck driver' even TALKING about anything motorized.
That's odd. I just use the PCMIA slot on my laptop. Buy an adapter for the Compact flash and plug it in. Copies over the pictures as fast as the hard drive can handle it.
But if you MUST have universial acceptance, I would go for the Sony line that uses floppies.
I believe there is more to this than the numbers. I have some grainy photos for you to look at, taken with film. How can this be if film is so 'High res'? I also have my prom pictures. Yes the top of my head is sheared off. This was taken by my mother and it would of been perfect if we had a Digicam. She would of looked at it and said 'Hey, this didn't turn out right.'
What's your obession with turning the Amazon rain forest into paper products? How about an LCD screen for showing photos and only printing out the ones that you want to give to other people? If they have email you can send them all a copy, for free.
Hmm, still need more info? Actually, I was going over all the digicams a while back. It seems that they are still working out the bugs in these new cameras.
Decide what you MUST have.
rec.photo.digital is a good place to ask if anyone has had problems with X camera. http://www.pcphotoreview.com/ for those without access to newsgroups.
Then go to professional sites that review digicams like http://photo.askey.net/
I ended up buying an Epson 750Z due to: Fast updates on the LCD. Only camera that had a 'Sun assist' on the LCD. Not a single hardware/software complaint. Came with Card, NIMh batteries and charger. Optical sight and LCD sight. Good reviews. Good price. Got it on sale on Buy.com
I'm STILL happy with the camera even though it's 'only'
What do you mean? You don't own the Charactor, you don't own the items, and with the UCITA you don't even own the software on the disk.
For 10$ you get the privilige of using a charactor you've been pouring enormous amounts of time into. And they don't really need a reason to ban you. So all the time and effort will leave you completely empty handed. You can't even sell your CD!
I quit EQ. I was amazed at how much time I spent on it once I got away.
This is interesting? This was barely thought out by the poster OR the moderators!
"The patch would be used to keep the warfighter at optimum performance for a day or two, until he or she has access to a real meal and the time to eat it,"
Ok? You can't compress food that much. The reason this is brought up in the context of battlefields and soldiers is because it will cost more than regular food and it doesn't do the job of regular food. Note they are comparing it to the 'Hoo-Ha' bar. Fat, sugar, caffeine. I bet by the time this battle patch comes out it will also administer usefull battle drugs as well.
From what I've seen of 'Starving people' around the world, it's the fault of their goverments using the populace as pawns in their power games. They grab as much of the relief food as they can to sell. They would LOVE these combat patches if you decide to use them as relief aid. For their own soldiers or for the black market it would be pretty valuable.
I don't believe you got a FIVE for your post! Incredible!
Er, we've been wandering about in the unknown now for, well, since the first human. Sure we picked some things up quickly, Don't eat trees, sky is blue, don't play with a pack of hungry wolves. All of these things were in the 'Unknown' once. We rarely understand the concquences of our actions. Guess not.
Worried about checks and balances? Don't worry about it, I'm sure something else will pop up. Of course, to check humanity, something is going to have to wipe out quite a few of us. Orginated from human creativity or nature, the end result is the only thing that matters.
Ah huh. Tell you what, how about you give me the keys to your house. I swear I'm only going to use it to water the plants when you're out of town. Oh, and sign this statement saying 'I allow Erik to use my housekey and come into my house for....'
Yes, that part is left blank, so I can change it whenever I feel like it.
