Some people just like to argue. For instance, he didn't even TRY to estimate how much Additional losses for the Braswells included three antique vehicles, a foam machine, a compressor, a utility trailer and miscellaneous equipment cost.
The fact is, if you own a monolithic dome and try to get insurance for it, it'll be classified as a "Reinforced Concrete Bunker".
Once your local insurance company figures that out, your insurance (Fire, earthquake, or hurricane) will be cheap. And it's cheap because they rarely have to pay out any damages on structures like that.
My favorite stories are the domes that are built on the beach that are hit by hurricanes. The only damage they take is from the neighbors houses as they're ripped apart. And even that's only to equipment outside the dome.
Er, no not really. Yes, you can damage anything if you apply enough heat to it. But reinforced concrete buildings do not burn with normal fires found on the planet earth.
It's one of the main selling points of monolithic domes. The second is the insulated coating that makes it extremely fire resistant.
They put out a movie with a RealDoll as one of the main characters.
Hurm. It's not listed on the RealDoll Wikipedia entry, but I'm surprised to see that there are several movies there. Cheaper than a real actress I guess.
For example, a genetic algorithm developed jointly by engineers from General Electric and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute produced a high-performance jet engine turbine design that was three times better than a human-designed configuration and 50% better than a configuration designed by an expert system by successfully navigating a solution space containing more than 10387 possibilities.
G.E. used GA years ago to improve on the jet engine. It increased efficiency by a few percent, which I heard was a big deal.
"Ok, we're having a problem here." 'What? I thought you said my webcam is working?' "Yeeeah. The problem is that we still can't tell if you're a woman."
Learning for fun? No. They did the homework(sometimes) and studied for the tests(sometimes). The tests are now standardized. Stop being so freakin' dramatic.
"Oh my god! Millions of people are dying from a horrible new disease that's spreading like wildfire!"
'Is it the flu?'
"Er, no..."
'Feh. Big deal.'
Do you lay awake at night wondering "If a car gets hit by a train, is it still a car accident?"
Why is it so terrible to learn ONE new skill on the job? Do you only hire robots?
That's an awfully big "Might" you have there.

People who want to build houses made of *wood* in areas that regularly have wildfires should be laughed at.
Yeah. Because robbers would NEVER dress up like police, barge in and shout continuously "Police! Get Down! Police! Get Down!".
Only the magic of being a policeman lets them do that.
Yep. Once those 3rd world farmers start making money, their taxes will go up.
3rd world countries got that way from their governments. I don't care how great your workers are, you can run any economy into the ground.
The original Total Annihilation had much better AI that "Supreme Commander".
Frankly, I was shocked at how bad Supreme Commander was. It felt like just another RTS game.

My god! Some guy on the Internet is right!
Rise up in rebellion my brothers!
Huh. No one is rebelling? I guess... we're ok with it then? Right.
Eh? Police officers do this all the time. They keep an eye on people who are acting suspiciously.
Now we're teaching machines this human trait.
I can see it now...
"Ok, we're having a problem here."
'What? I thought you said my webcam is working?'
"Yeeeah. The problem is that we still can't tell if you're a woman."
This won't end well.
There is a difference. Management dictates what the IT systems are, which defines IT's jobs.
IT has no such influence on management.
I disagree.
Back when the species could earn a living from farming, a job wasn't a human right. It was something everyone could do, and had to do to survive.
Now what? Can you go off, buy a ridiculously priced piece of land and farm a living off of it? You have to be able to get a job.
What did you think kids were doing before?
Learning for fun? No. They did the homework(sometimes) and studied for the tests(sometimes). The tests are now standardized. Stop being so freakin' dramatic.
I just couldn't resist checking out your problem. :)
And I totally understand the whole "You either have more time or money" concept.
Some things I find much easier to use a GUI tool. But KDE and Gnome are too heavy for my liking.
And when I'm having trouble with a web page, sometimes it's nice to VNC to my server and check it out using firefox there.
I think it's the nature of the adversarial court system.
I do. Xubuntu has been working great for me on my headless server.
Is there a list? I'm curious.
Did you try the invert option in xrandr?
My ubuntu box is headless, so I wasn't able to test it.
If the 20% reduction in fuel costs are realistic, the only way they'll fail is to have the airframe dramatically explode.
But, where do schools and publishers think students are getting all this money from?
Student Loans.
It doesn't seem to matter. You see, when they started charging for it, nobody wanted it.
So how amazing can the "Newspaper of record" be, if no one is willing to pay for all that "content"?
Going by that alone, the NYT has almost no value.
