    I'm a FreeBSD guy. I've yet to see anything regarding how this is going to affect me. Naturally, I'm not going to get any of the .NT err .NET goodness, but MS doesn't seem to be shipping any of their marketing jazz my way.

    Does anyone have any links to info regarding .NET's impact on the un*x world?

    Also, are they really going to call everything *.NET? It just seems so...what's the word I'm looking for...well, inane.

    Stephen King did have an ebook, "Riding the Bullet".

    It got cracked and pirated, though. Turns out the security wasn't all that hot.

    It's loads of fun to sit and think what terrible code microsoft must write, but you've got to be realistic. They are the largest software producer in the world. They hire smart programmers (bad designers, yes, but it's not like they have a bunch of skript kidz churning out SQL Server.) They have managers to make sure that the code is written properly. I'm not endorsing the end product or anything, but the code has got to look pretty good.

    Now mod me down.

    It's the "linux everywhere" attitude. People want linux based handhelds, depsite the existence of superior portable operating systems.

    It might have made (a little) sense back in the 9 days, but OS X really does make it pointless.
