He went into debt trying to help your holy FOSS community and you criticize him for leaving? Give me a fucking break...you can sit there from your college dorm room and be all moral about not working for the "enemy", but until you have a family and kids that depends on you..please just shutup.
This is somewhat of a tough issue...because obviousely you can open up a spoofed page inside of a frame that looks like a legit page. However, there are legit reasons to open up other offsite content in a frame (take a look at ask.com...I believe they leave a frame up top to their site then open another site from there searches).
The best idea would to just get rid of frames completely, they suck.
I really had no intention of buying this new console (as I really prefer PC games...) but if they allowed me to download all Nintendo 64 games and play them...I would buy it in a second.
This had nothing to do with technology...some hire ups at the bank stole the data and sold it off to a very high bidder. It doesnt matter what operating system you have...that data was going out.
Found this little project listed on the Limewire wish list:
New front-end that allows control of LimeWire via a web browser
That is quite a big deal, more than likey will take more than a week to accomplish even working 8 hour days. And for only 500 bucks? If your trying to make a living thats just not gonna work.
Wow...tell me which company over here averages 90k a year for coders such as myself and I will be there. I dont know what your smoking but I want some of it.
I understand your reasoning for Firefox...but you are trying to convert people to Linux Server by saying "better able to manage stuff". And you want someone to switch top open office because its "Adequate"? These are not very compelling reasons for people to switch to open source applications.
We have Adelphia here in Mass and I must say it has been pretty much rock solid since they announced their bankrupt. In fact, things actually improved after that. The cable internet has been nothing but great and the TV has been fine (though I am not too picky about TV as I dont watch it too often).
I have to say that Im not looking forward to this buyout....
Ummm...he did include the motherboard. It also has onboard audio which in most situtations works just fine. You are correct on one point though, he did forget the operating system.
Thats good and everything but you still are just masking the spyware to the user (unless you removed all the Spyware then installed the HOST file). He may not get pop up windows because of the HOST file....but the spyware is still running and eating up system resources. Using the HOST file is almost just like what Microsoft is doing with this Anti-Spyware program...masking the original problem instead of just fixing it.
Comparing Microsoft software to all open source software is like comparing a bushel of apples to all the oranges ever in existence. They have little to do with each other.
Not like the slashdot crowd ever compares Microsoft and open source software......
Just because we can not enforce or completely stop abuse by making something illegal does not mean that we should not do it. Im sure no matter what law you have, someone somewhere is going to be breaking it. But could you imagine what would happen if stealing cars was made legal? How about making crack legal so any joe can run down to the store to pick up a rock?
The idea is that by making it illegal you will force people that have morals to make a moral decision that they would not be forced to make if it was legal. Now spammers are kind of tough because we can see that they already have no morals...but maybe a fine will make some people actually stop spamming. Stopping SOME spammers is better than stoping no spammers.
And if they choose an obsolete browser like IE 6, who cares?
Usually I would have to agree with you. But the problem is known as the Computer Science syndrome (well covered on slashdot). For those that dont know, that means every damn person that you know is going to ask you to fix their computer...remove the spyware and viruses....and show them the holy grail of computing. I really dont have time for this. Most of my close friends and family are using Firefox because I forced them to. Why? Because I dont want to have to spend 4 hours removing the virus of the week that effects IE. I care because its cutting into my personal time.
Actually there was some damage. The bullet head was flattened out some and lead was starting to come out the back of the bullet. The discovery channel show's bullet matched the photos from the magic bullet with unbelievable accuracy.
I still do not have a DVD burner/reader on any of my 3 machines. I have no use for one honestly. I am not going to watch DVD movies on my computer nor do I need it for backup purposes since I have a machine that I back things up on.
Wasnt Quake 4 on the Doom 3 license?
I dunno, I was skimming over that link and read this:
"I supported the war in Iraq and the world is much safer. (Oct 2004)"
Missing something here?

What are they good at though? Sorry, sorry, I just couldnt resist:)
Just had more coffee, ignore that post:)

If Microsoft pulled this same stunt with their new search engine this entire crowd (or most) would be jumping all over them for being evil.
Google gets the Slashdot "Get out of jail free" card.

I consider a possible future cure for cancer through biotechnology pretty revolutionary....alot more than a flying car.

I think it was Doom 3....I remember reading a story somewhere (could have been here on /.) about Best Buy selling Doom 3 before it was released.
Sure enough, I tried the two local best buy with no such luck:(

Not everyone has DVD readers yet.
