There are other perfectly valid reasons to use Gentoo. You can still pick and choose packages with very fine grained detail. You still get the great pnemonic-runlevel init system. You still get emerge and portage and can recompile certain packages from scratch for maximum performance, like X or glibc, without re-compiling non performance stuff like lynx or pine. You still get a highly polished distro with a great/etc structure and a very high degree of out-of-the-box usability. I'm probably forgetting some other advantages. Those are reasons enough to use gentoo, IMO.
The Powerbook 100 is functionally identical to the original Mac Portable. This is because Apple sent the designs to Sony who miniaturized them. The INDUSTRIAL design of the case, AFAIK, was done by Apple, or at least in cooperation with Apple. Thats why it LOOKS like an Apple product, not a Sony product.
I took a year off after high school. I worked full time for 6 months and then got unemployed and drank a lot of beer and smoked a lot of pot and had sex with my girlfriend and it was great. But eventually it got boring and I realised that my career prospects were pretty limited so I got off my ass and went to college and got my bachelors degree in computer engineering with honors. I'd say take a year off, live while you're young. The older you are the easier college becomes because you are more mature and disciplined, and because you'll be bigger and older than everybody else and can manipulate them to do your bidding. AND you won't have to feel intimidated by asshole teachers and administrators who like to take advantag of naive young students, YOU can do the intimidating. I'm n1ywb and that's my two cents.
Fossilization is the process of minerals replacing proteins. It requires a wet environment, which is why you usually find fossiles in sedementary rocks that used to be a swamp or mud on the bottom of the ocean or something. Soooooo
The PowerBook series set the standard for laptop computer design. They were terrific feats of industrial design. And the rest of Apple's products were usually pretty good that standpoint as well. The bad old days were not the result of poor industrial design. Poor price/performance, a crashy and rapidly deprecating OS, and crappy developer programs probably had a lot more to do with it.
Typical apple zealot reaction. Here I am singing the praises of ResEdit AND OS-X and yet I still get modded as flamebait because I mention that Apple had a few shitty years. Face the facts, people.
It sounds like the company will probably tank if you leave on short notice. Unless you've documented everything extremely well.
Unless there's something you haven't mentioned, your boss has no legal recourse, so you're basicly free to do whatever. But do you really want to fuck him? Thats up to you I guess.
If I were you, I would stay long enough to hire and train a replacement. I would offer to consult AT MY CONVENIENCE at the going rate for the area. I wouldn't make any promises, however.
X works extremely well over non-LAN connections if you use either LBX or (my favorite) DXPC.
I use DXPC to get into my box at home from work and it's very useable, definately better than VNC over the same connection. They'll even make X tolerable over a modem but highly graphical apps will still take a hit.
My God, ResEdit was the shiznizzle! Resources! Words fail to describe just how GOOD that idea was. I still don't understand how Apple could have had so much potential and yet they still sucked out, at least until OS-X.
You need to use a documentation framework to automate the process, unless your SDK only has one or two functions. I like Doxygen a lot, it's pretty easy to use and works with lots of languages. JavaDoc or PerlDoc, etc are good for specific languages. Html is a fine file format for the final output.
You get BETTER range and BETTER milage in CITY conditions. They electric system is only beneficial during acceleration, so it's great in stop and go traffic. Cruising on the highway it provides no benefit, in fact the extra weight reduces your mileage slightly. People don't understand that and that's why some people have been whining that their hybrids don't get the mileage they expected. If you do mostly highway cruising you really are better off with a normal, fuel efficient gasoline vehicle.
Of course on the highways here in the NYC area, and in most metro areas, stop and go is the rule.
You really think Joe Schmoe should have that much say? You really think Joe Schmoe would bother to use his say? That's why we have a representitive democracy, it conceeds to the fact that most people are idiots so we elect leaders to lead us.
Yes, paying taxes is voluntary. So is gainful employment, property ownership, owning and driving a car, and all the other nice priviledges granted to you by the government in exchange for your taxes. The only legal way to not pay taxes is to not earn any money and not own anything, IE be a bum.
You do, it's just not very convenient or direct. Call up your congress critters and bitch. If you don't like what they say, vote and campaign for someone else next time. See? Control, sort of...
It goes without saying that early diagnosis and treatment will give you the best chances by far for the longest and healthiest survival.

I run Gentoo on a 300MHz K6 with no problems. Sure it takes a while to compile anything but boo hoo.

In that case the obvious course of action is to say "fuck 'em".

I'm pretty sure that if you're income is below a certain threshold, you are not required to file a return.
audacity's compressor plugin is junk.

or you could use VNC for free
Also NES Emu, I blew a lot of hours in class playing Zelda.
