And does the spammer pay, or does the pour sap with the open relay just get their connection yanked and faced with a bill they (arguably) didn't deserve?
Entering all those zeros in a row... it just throws me. Many times I'll enter "10.0.0.0." when I just ment to enter "10.0.0.". You know the drill. Those fingers get started and they just don't stop. "192.168.0." is easy to enter too, but doesn't suffer from the repitition problem.

I would like to point you to this story on slashdot, a popular technology news site, posted by the author of the website above. It discribes how he abused the page-rank system in order to have his page score high on unrelated searches.
There is no real reason to use one or the other except that many devices come with built in static IP addresses. I've seen some with 10.x addresses, others with 192.168.x addresses. I guess not looking at that, it just comes down to choice. I like 192.168 and use it on my home network... but my work network uses 10. JUST GO FOR IT MAN!
I abide by the 10 minute rule. Not as long as 12 hours, but if something hits the floor it's going to be as dirty in 5 seconds as it will be in 10 minutes.
Problem with that is, if I got an OEM laptop or computer the first thing I'd do is format the thing. How can they prove I read the licence if I needed to boot the thing to read it?
I didn't know that severely disabled children could be written in Perl. Live and learn. But seriously, looks like a very interesting idea and application. Allowing people to select from pre-defined items or write their own words using only what limited muscle movment they have. In this case, moving the head left and right.
Hell, I had my music on low on my laptop and never got complaints. It helped that the only guy near me was a sales guy and spent most of his time on the phone, and that I kept the music very low, and that it was good music.
It's neither, so it depends on how the rules are written. If we hate AOL on even numbered days and not on all others, then we like AOL today. If we like AOL on odd numbered days and not on all others, then we hate it today.
If we hate AOL on even days and like it on odd days, then I jump off a bridge looking for CASE ELSE.
I just took an old 486 and set up a copy of Winroute on Win2K. I know I could have done the same thing on Linux, but I like the Winroute configuration program and can run it on my main box and connect to the router remotly.
I never have to re-start that thing. It never kills my active connections.
And then un-install all the updates, and then turn on all your services, re-set your administrator password to blank, and see how long it stays up THEN! Good god, you just can't accept it, can you? Windows 2k and up are stable and mostly secure, when updated regularly.
And Windows Update uses ActiveX, while Opera refuses to support ActiveX because of security concerns. Oh well, not Microsoft's fault, but Opera. However, I do think it was a good call on Opera's part to not support ActiveX. Who needs it? I have IE set to alert me whenever an ActiveX thingy tries to do somethin, and if I'm not at Windows Update I will most likelly deny it.
Nope, Windows is the only thing I can think of with 'Win' in front of it.
Word used to be known as WinWord a long time ago, is that what you were talking about? It hasn't been like that for forever, but it must have confused you.
it's called E-Mail. All information is kept track of by a central server, all the important stuff is saved, it can be orginized into folders, works easilly across the network, and people are notified almost instantly (via. outlook) when they have a new message.
Come on, everyone knows the Lottery is just a tax on people who are bad at math. But I do agree that you're better off with that then SCO stock. So instead of both of those, please put your money to use and have a pizza payed for and delivered to my house. You will be added to my friends list on delivery of the pizza.

It was planned. It was announced. It was cordinated. I was on time (thirty minutes late), but I was there.

Hah! An AMD could do it in 4 seconds! Told you AMD was faster, you stupid Intel fanboys.
The Shutdown command would be for Windows XP only. However, if you've got a Windows XP box on the LAN and want to save your Windows 2K box, a quick
/m hostname /a
;)
shutdown
Will do it. I'm a bit rusty on the command though and I'm using a 2K box so if anyone else notices an error please correct me.
Oh wait, this is Slashdot, I don't need to ask

Just take a lil strip of tape and cover up the webcam before tests. Trust me, people will do it. Hell, if I lived there I would do it.
Give me some examples please?

E-Mail is the answer here.

>> Damn them! What's going on over there?
> I don't know, but we havn't been able to get any other orders. The lines are all clogged up.
>> Quick, block the phone number where these are all comming from.
> Can't sir, it's comming from everywhere! It's like someone put us on the phone book of hell.
>> Alright, well put a recorded message on saying we're closed untill tomarrow. Hopefully it'll have died down by then.
> And the pizza's?
>> Send them over to my friend Neal. He's the one that goes by 'CowboyNeal'.
