The article's title indicates that Grandma will be using GNOME. Where did GNOME come from? The article states that Grandma will be using Xandros, and that "Xandros does not offer a choice of desktop environments, as most Linux distributions do. The current edition runs a modified version of KDE 3.1.4."

Is it? ATI and nVidia are both introducing new cards at about the same time. How do you know the GeForce is on top? Do you have benchmarks of the R420 that conclusively tell you that the NV40 is faster?
Just because one company (nVidia) has removed their NDA earlier doesn't mean they have the faster unreleased card.
Run a machine in a virtual machine, and then resolve ALL IPs to a local mail server. All mail is successfully delivered, but never leaves the machine. The spam company is none the wiser.
If you don't buy a console, Microsoft doesn't lost 250$... They lose 0$.
People have been saying that Microsoft will lose money because they will have a surplus of xboxes. That logic doesn't make any sense at all. Say that sales of the Xbox drop. Microsoft will have a surplus of xboxs, and will cut production. What do you suppose will happen then?
By your logic every unsold xbox will be a 250$ loss to Microsoft. What, do you think that when Microsoft doesn't sell an Xbox they throw them out? More like they get sold eventually anyhow.
Every xbox produced will be sold eventually. If a thousand xboxs are not sold today, 1000 less will be produced in the future. It all balances out, and Microsoft saves money in the long run.
The only place Microsoft may lose money is from a higher rate of piracy of the games (Which is where they make the real money). Who knows, though, maybe increased sales from PC owners buying Xbox games will counter that.
The sig is a (mostly effective) attempt to get some asshole to stop "stalking" me by posting garbage insult/goatse replies to every single comment I post. It has pretty much worked too; he both doesn't reply anymore since he obviously knows I won't see it, and even if he DOES post his crap, I won't even know it's there.
And you know what? If my sig insults people like you who can't even be bothered to get an account, tough. You shouldn't be reading/posting comments anyhow.
However it would be nice if some sort of method were used to provide rudimentry texturing or shading. I don't even know if it's possible, but I'd figure, if you know which dots are going where, then at least shading couldn't be that insane. Besides, it'd REALLY help navigate, going by depth information alone is really tough.
Please explain to me then, why I can subscribe to Bell ExpressVu sat. TV and get many American channels. Like CNN, doesn't get more American than that. I don't think CNN has much canadian content. According to your post, this isn't possible.
As for hit Canadian series... StarGate SG-1 is a pretty popular show, having lasted (by the time it ends) 8 seasons, with a spinoff series (StarGate Atlantis) set to air at the same time as Season 8 of SG-1. I'll leave you to read all the other hit Canadian shows that other replies to your extremely misinformed post have listed.
I like RPM and up2date in RedHat ES 3.0. However, some things I still install from source, like Apache and PHP. Others, like MySQL, I do from packages.
I'd argue that with Gtk#, you can't take any windows C# app and shove it on a linux box with Mono, whereas with a working Windows.Forms implementation, you could probably do that, if only with very minor modifications. I'm talking about existing apps, not apps coded with Mono in mind from the ground up.
Am I the only one that would rather use Windows.Forms? I mean, true cross-platform support for Mono means Windows.Forms suppot, which is supposedly still under development.
Am I the only one that thinks this is the most useless extension ever? Who cares what the browser is called, that doesn't actually change anything. They could call it a 32-byte string of random characters for all I care, if it does as good a job at browsing, I'm happy.
I'm hoping somebody can clear this up. Does this mean that Microsoft has to help out projects like Samba so that Linux can communicate with Windows over SMB? Or does it extend all the way to helping Wine run Windows apps on Linux?
Personally, I hope it extends all the way. Imagine the Wine team not only having access to the Windows source (They sort of do now due to the leak, but they can't do anything with it), but being given legal permission by the government to use it, with Microsoft's help!
Well, I am the original poster, and I'd have no trouble with a nuclear power station next door. For one thing, Canadian nuclear power plants are much more resiliant to accidents than their US counterparts; I don't claim to understand exactly how it works as I'm not a nuclear scientist, but I certainly recall Popular Science doing a story about it. I remember something about little balls coated in something, rather than rods.
Regardless, it's a non-issue. My province doesn't have a single nuclear power plant, all our power comes from Hydro. We have such a surplus of power that not only do we have our own interconnect (Despite being surrounded by the big power outage on all sides, my province watched it on the news), we sell excess power to the US and other provinces. So the chance of the government saying "Hey, we don't have enough power, let's build a nuclear power station!" is nil.
I'll admit to it, but that doesn't mean I like it.
It's Star Trek, and with no other substitute, it serves as a hold-over until good trek comes along. It's not like I WANT to watch it, I just don't have a choice:p

ATI's next-gen offering is to be launched about the same time as nVidia's GeForce 6800, and we haven't seen reviews from it yet.
I'd wait until the Radeon X800 benchmarks are out before crowning a new king. For all we know ATI's new offering will beat the new GeForce.

Don't fake your info, just get a private registration:
& from%5Fapp=&prog%5Fid=GoDaddy&authGuid=
https://registrar.godaddy.com/dbp.asp?isc=&se=%2B
It only costs 2-3$ a year more than a normal domain, and the domain is registered in the registrar's name so your info isn't public.

I found the opposite, the further I get the easier it is to see.
I beat the first 2 levels, with godmode on. I had to turn it off occasionally to hit buttons, those barely protrude and are very hard to see.

APIs, I guess that doesn't include protocols, and those are integral to interoperability... Or am I misreading it?

I voted for Mozilla, but I've got Firebird. No option for Firebird-only. Ah well, close enough.
