If its like the last several seasons of the simpsons then I am not interested. Matt Groening in his Life In Hell comic strip during the 2004 US presidential election cycle made some sort of promise that it would be just anti-bush only. I took that to mean just the life in hell comic strip but it turned out to be in the Simpsons. I applaud him for making good on his word (even though I am obviously on the other side of the political spectrum).
If Matt Groening takes that kind of work to Futurama I would rather go without new episodes of Futurama.
The last Simpsons episode I found funny was Tree House of Horror 12.

The HD Tivo problems have largely been addressed. The machines built after September 3 2004 have been relatively problem free. However DirecTV and the other DBS providers are moving to MPEG4 starting middle of this year which will not work with the HD Tivo hardware. The HD Tivo of course will function fine as a over the air HD receiver as long as DirecTV keeps sending Tivo data. DirecTV says they will keep their current HD Channels in Mpeg2 format and will upgrade peoples equipment as needed.
That said I dont know if I would purchase an HD Tivo at the current 850 - 1K$ price. I bought one around August 2004 was about to get another one but DirecTV has apparently speeded up plans to go to MPEG4...

I have looked for info on that receiver. Everything I have found indicates the firewire port on the DVR-921 is non functional. I dont know if there are cool hacks for the DishNetwork DVRs like there are for tivo. Next year DishNetwork should be releasing a new HD DVR called the 942 maybe it will have that functionality but I really doubt it.
FYI the series 2 DirecTivo's maybe even the HD ones Im not sure about that part can be "hacked" to run the newer Tivo software and other coolness. Just google to find the relavent instructions. of course doing all that voids warrantee etc...

I agree that the Tivo has the best interface and general coolness. But be aware that there is a very good chance that the HDMI port will not work at all or has to be messed with and even thats not 100%. I can't believe the reinstating draft story got listed. The military is meeting its recruiting goal so this is purely for political points of some sort. The only people calling for reinstating the draft are people who oppose the war in Iraq and the military in general. They see the mandatory military service to create chaos in the military with thousands of people who do not want to there in the first place.

You can get the DirecTV tivo for "free" if you google enough for it but the catch is you have to get 1 year contract. The HD DirecTivo is totaly awesome when it works for a $1000 piece of equipment you think they would of done more testing on the DVI/HDMI aspect of it. Speaking of HD are any of the home brew PVR doing HD yet?

Mandrake 10 beta 2 still doesnt work with USB keyboards or mice making it useless. This is not a slam on mandrake the other beta distro connectiva had exactly same problem also.
What is so difficult about kernel 2.6 that even the experts that make these distros can not get USB keyboard and mice to function with it?
