He is making scientific conclusions based on his faith that the soul is not real. That's just stupid.
How is that any different from any other scientist making a claim against religion? Evolution and the big bang are all theories but scientists consider them to be sacred accounts of why we exist today. Someone should remind the scientists that wanting to be God and/or acting like God doesn't make you God and that what they know are only guesses.
They didn't actually prove there is no soul so there is an unfounded claim in his theory (big surprise). Disprove there is no soul in a cloned human being and we will have something to talk about then.
The thing is, there's no reason to be scared of autonomous organization - it is literally everywhere around us.
The thing is, there IS reason to be scared. Sure, there are examples all around us but humans didn't create those examples. A perfect higher power created them. Humans are imperfect and can and have made mistakes. If you make a mistake in the "intelligence" of a swarm (or is it instinct?) then you create an unnatural problem that hasn't ever existed because the systems that are out there have been created; they did not develop. Big difference.
... versus a bunch of people who want to take their values and force them on everyone else
I hate to break it to you but religion was in schools from the beginning and no one complained until just a few decades ago. In the first 200 years of this country everyone was fine with it. It's the atheists who want to remove it and force their values (or lack thereof) on everyone else. You got your story backwards. Hopefully I just set you straight. Atheists want all religion to be removed despite their being an overall majority of religion people in the US who want religion in the public eye.
Also, you can't preserve anything, let alone a separation, when it didn't exist to begin with. Congress is not making any laws favoring any religion. There are no laws that state religion has to be in a school but yet atheists point to the separation ("Congress shall make no law..."; I got news for you: THEY HAVEN'T made ANY laws for religion to be in a school) of church and state when religion rears its ugly head in a school.
It's sickening that people want to remove the religious angle from the CHristmas holiday when it was Christianity that even made Christmas possible. Some people just want it to be a holiday of gift giving now and call it the Winter holiday (what the heck is that? I guess that means we need a spring holiday too, oh wait, that's Easter.) and want to deny the holiday's origins just because it has religion at it's source. If you don't agree with Christmas then don't celebrate but don't generalize and trivialize it to the point of there being no religious angle to it anymore just because you aren't religious. Leave the people alone who aren't even bugging you and you won't have to hear from them. Neat, that cause and effect huh?
It really blows that 100 people can RUIN what millions watch...
It really blows that 100 people can RUIN what millions believe in such as the right to practice their religion in public and the right NOT to have the gay lifestyle shoved down their throats. Atheists are doing their damndest to make sure all signs of Christianity are removed from the public eye and gays are working hard to make sure the rest of the country accepts their lifestyle, whether we want to or not so how is this any different? Oh I know the reason, because it is something GOOD that is being defended instead of something BAD. God forbid that a small group of people get their way when it comes to trying to keep a morally sound set of standards ON on the airwaves.
If the gay minority can have laws changed to fit their agenda why not the PTC? I'm not saying laws are being changed but you get the picture. The PTC may be the only ones who actually take the time to complain to the FCC but a lot more people share their views. It's just the gay minority who really are a minority and the PTC, while being a minority, represent a majority.
You pay for the whole internet whether you will ever view all of it or not so you can't quite use that comparison. Granted, the cost per "channel" is a lot less but you will end up only choosing to view a few "channels" all the time anyway, just like you did/do with TV.
Who want to generalize Christmas and just call it a "holiday" we have to be politically correct and alienate the Christians by renaming the song "The 12 days of Holiday". Which holiday you ask? Well, ask all those who want to generalize it. Maybe they mean the 12 days of Labor Day.
Well, I'm not saying all schools do this but I know that a lot of schools won't even let kids pray in school even if it's not lead by a teacher. The administrations of the schools also won't allow prayer at graduations. That is 100% against the freedom of religion of this country. They can't say its a separation of church and state and still say its a freedom of religion if the kids themselves WANT to pray and the school won't let them for fear of...the minorities complaining I guess and/or political correctness. What those kids want to do is practice their religion in a school. That has nothing to do with the school teaching the religion or endorsing it.
If the gov't wants to practice religion then that is okay too. Even if the gov't endorsed one it is in no way forcing anyone to have the same religion. No one kills you in this country if you don't agree with the religion of the gov't; THAT'S the freedom of religion as far as the gov't is concerned. If the atheists removed all religion from the gov't do you think that would somehow make the gov't force everyone to become atheist? No it wouldn't so why get your underwear in a bunch if the gov't wants a religion? It's not just the gov't either, the last US election showed that most people still value morals and standards in this country and the best way to achieve those is through religion. There are many more Catholics and Baptists and other Christians in this country than Muslims and Atheists, etc.
I know first hand that any gov't related jobs you may want to apply for will probably require a 4 year degree. They have requirements for certain education levels and they don't do waivers like they used to so if you only have a 2 year degree you are limited as to what you will be paid, however they will do their best to get the most out of you if you show the competency and skill level but you won't be properly compensated.
the SNES had superior sound AND graphics compared to the sega genesis but because the genesis came out first everyone bought that. That seems to be the reason why I knew a lot more people had a genesis despite the SNES being better.
I didn't say teach religion in public schools. I said practice. There IS a difference. Maybe that is your problem: you don't know the difference. The same idea applies to the church and state problem you seem to have. There is a difference between allowing religion in the government and other public places (but the government not forcing you to accept that religion) and outright banning it which is what some people are trying and succeeding at doing. People like you try to fix one problem by creating a double standard and overcorrecting by removing religion (when there is supposed to be freedom of) when you are afraid, despite the fact no one is forcing you to be any particular religion that matches the government. You are supposed to let people pick their religion, not take it away from them just because you don't agree with it, and you aren't even affected by it. That isn't freedom.
First, George Washington was probably not a Christian, but a Deist, and while there are spiritual overtones to that proclamation, he clearly avoided any Christian references.
Whether he was or not doesn't negate the fact that he shared similar beliefs and did not mind that other people who may have been more Christian than he would practice their religion in the public schools. My, how the country has gone down hill since then, even moreso since religion was removed from the schools. Mr. Washington would *not* be proud.
Firefox will get better
Microsoft will get worse
Linux will get cooler
as long as it doesn't come from Red Hat
Over half the US population likes George Bush and he will be an even better President this term.
We know the space elevator will crumble just like the Tower of Babel, and for the same reason.
back to our regularly scheduled comments...
Uh, what would you be referring to? Every month of the year has some sort of holiday. Which holiday are you referring to, Thanksgiving, Hanukah, Christmas? Don't generalize.
Well how long will Valve keep the game and/or the game servers supported? 5 years? 10 years? At some point some interest will wear off and the money/time/manpower used to keep the servers going won't be worth it anymore. Then what?
Nothing lasts forever, but this potentially unecessarily shortens the life of something that could last a lot longer.
Where do you think they got the name of the game from? The playability factor is half of that of any other game because of the server authentication and therefore the shelf life is half of the norm.
After all, there aren't many slashdot posts proclaiming excitement over new versions of SQL Server, right?
That's because it's SQL Server and no excitement exists, only fear.

The initial systems had to come from somewhere. They don't just materialize out of nothing contrary to your whacked out logic.
The thing is, there's no reason to be scared of autonomous organization - it is literally everywhere around us.

Now geeks can say that we are going to go get our own molester to play with. That sounds really good to everyone listening.

FYI, it's Energizer.

Do you have any idea how irritating it is to walk into a restaurant in New Delhi and have a tourist fuckface go:
You show you must have very high intelligence to use words like that. It's even above my intelligence to even know what a f**kface is.
You know you are a redneck if you have to use the word f**k at least once in a sentence.
It's nice to know the puzzle dissolves in water. As the story says, it is soluble.
