Maybe you are but I'm not. Just b/c some DNA is shared among animals does not mean they were once the same species. Incorrect deduction but great scientists leads to that incorrect theory.
I say if it's large enough that its own gravity shapes it into a sphere then it can be called a planet. An asteroid will not qualify under this criteria as its gravity is not sufficient enough to shape it into a sphere.
China could kick our ass so we will leave them alone. They will eventually become members of the world army since they obviously have the biggest population. Then again, US Service men and women already are forced to say they will fight for the UN and not the US. It's a messed up world we live in.
Even if the Internet doesn't lead to a world gov't we will still wind up with one. The Bible says we will have one where the anti-christ is the world leader. The question is not if we will have world gov't but when and by what means. We've had more wars since the UN came into existence than any time prior to the UN but people think the UN is the best thing since sliced bread. It's just another stepping stone to the world gov't.
Or if you highlight something in X to get it into your clipboard and then realize you need to highlight a LONG URL in your address bar instead of holding down DEL for 10 seconds and once you do that you lose what you needed in the clipboard, then you have to go back to the original text and highlight it again. It's annoying.
Well it sure is nice to know you are giving free reign to the media to do whatever the heck they please and put whatever they want on tv. I'm glad they dont listen to you. We could end up having real murders take place on tv while people vote on which method the murderer should use to do the killing. A kid can see a lot of things many places that a parent can't help, such as being at school or the mall or a friend's house. You obviously feel the media can do whatever they please and not have to answer to anyone. It's a good thing there are laws or there would be even worse things on TV and radio based on your line of thought.
So what is the problem? No one watches any some of those and the others are full of useless teenage/early 20's crap (mtv, mtv2, cc). I do watch nick at night though. It reminds of what tv used to be, good entertainment w/o all the sex. Although they managed to sneak a nude man into a condom commercial, like it was required or something. So much for quality television.
that's a holdover from the days that SpikeTV was The Nashville Network they were owned by a freestanding Nashville-based company.
well that explains some things. I wondered what happened to TNN and where SpikeTV all of a sudden came from. It makes sense though considering what SpikeTV advertises itself as and the fact that on TNN there would be endless sexual comments while watching, of all things, the Japanese obstacle course show. I don't watch SpikeTV/TNN anymore. They act like they need to make everything have sexual overtones for it to be useful. That may be what some men want but I can deal w/o it. I don't need sexual overtones for every single tv show I watch, or any for that matter.
However, I do support free speech, and I think that parents should be responsible for what their kids read/see/hear, within reason.
With that mentality the media have no responsiblity at all. Why would you want the responsibility to be one sided? The producers of media content are just as responsible as the viewers. You do say "within reason" but I think within reason should mean half and half. As it is the media say that the responsibility lies solely on the parents, like the parents are the only ones at fault or something. And the parents, from what I can tell, at least do take some of the responsiblity but they can't watch their kids when their kids are not at home so the media have to practice some responsibility; anything less is irresponsible (duh!).
(how would it detect the difference between adverts and shows?)
Probably the same as anything else does: by noticing the difference in the picture (fade to black when a commercial is coming). Some may even detect a volume change (since commercials come on louder) but that may not happen with all commercials, but you do always get the fade to black though.
ATI could give away free video cards, open source all their drivers, and hire a bunch of strippers to come to your house and make you birthday cake... and the Slashdot crowd would still piss and moan.
What do you expect? You think we just take anything that is good looking and can produce a lot of heat? We do have standards you know. We don't just take any free video card;)
I never said I demanded a reason from God. I just don't see what reasoning there is to separate (at the human level) God's Creation between 2 different planets. THere is no reason for it from what I can see. Putting animals on Mars is even less sensible considering we have animals on earth for multiple reasons, not the least of which is for humans to utilize the members of the animal kingdom as the humans required (food, clothing, medicine, beasts of burden...you hear me PETA? its OKAY to do that with animals!). Animals on Mars would be useless. This could lead into what the meaning of life is.
We have a pretty rough idea of how big the universe is and the thought that it's all empty apart from this little planet may be true, but the God portrayed in the Bible is more likely to have created a universe that is teeming with life.
Was there life on Mars? I wouldn't be surprised, because if God wanted to put it there (or created the laws of physics that enable it to start) he could.
He could by why would he? What part of the portrayal of God would lead you to believe we aren't alone? The Bible doesn't mention another planet or another group of humans on another planet or anything else along those lines that might be anywhere but here on Earth. God could have made life there if he wanted to but only humans have souls and I don't see why God would separate 2 species that have souls by putting them on different planets. There definitely is no reason to have animals there and God never created aliens so that rules them out. Could there have been humans? I guess since I can't say there wasn't you would say there could be but then I have to ask what the point of that would have been since we have never been in contact with them and I'd have to question why their existence has been hidden from us?
I'm a Christian and not beating up on you but I don't see a reason for God putting life on Mars, let alone any humans. That is what Earth is for, we (and all animals as God made animals for us to use as we deemed necessary) were confined at Creation to this planet but that doesn't mean we can't move off of this planet on our own volition.
I have Timewarner RR service and I pay $50/mo and I get 3mb down (just recently upgraded to that) and 256kbps up. Not bad I dont think but i dont run game servers. It's been down maybe 4 times in the last 14 months. 1 of those was for an upgrade.
If Microsoft didn't include these items, you'd be the same one fucking bitching that they weren't securing their software good enough.
think before you speak. It's anti-competitive for one thing and for another, instead of being retroactive why aren't they being proactive by fixing the security holes to begin with instead of adding new code (that could itself have issues) that is a work around for the original problems?
Like it or not, some really bright people work at MS and I think that Windows XP is a good operating system.
Maybe MS will be nice and let some of those people work in the other divisions, like in the Office and Outlook division (is that the Applications division? i dont know the names).
All I know about Bush is I had a job when Clinton was president.
And I didn't have one when Clinton was President (not an IT job that is) but I do have one now since Bush is so what's your point? Companies fire people or lay them off, not the President. He has better things to do that are more important.
"My dad always thought that the best security meassure for these iris scans would be some sort of icepick-like tip that pokes you hard in the eye if the scan fails."
Boy you really gotta laugh at the guy that fails the test twice.
He just didn't see it coming. You can't blame him.
But... we're descended from tree-hugging primates

NO. Clueless managers just realized that they got bilked..... My boss wanted us to add the SA to our new licenses
Clueless managers and now your boss. Good thing you saved her or she would have been a clueless manager huh?
If I wanted to see that, I would watch Cops.
And with Cops you also have the stupid people fighting back.

I'm working on a PhD in archaeology. The stipend I'm living off of is a quarter of what I was making at my old job...
I hear a position on Mars may be opening up soon if you are interested. I'm sure NASA pays good. Hazard pay is probably included.

I do have some sympathy for "we were here first" but at some point it would simply be a tyranny of the minority.
the gays, lesbians, and atheists already have the "tyranny of the minority" angle covered.
Perhaps you'd like an experiment to see if water freezes when you cool it?
yes I would, can I choose to have it supercooled and bet it wont freeze as long as nothing touches it?

More power to them, and bandwidth, for less, no less.
