I think it's possible that Deep Fritz now is better than Deep Blue then but the really important thing - as somebody already mentioned above (as joke though)- Kramnik is better at negotiating

The most important thing is that he couldn't train against Deep Blue, Kramnik could simply buy the single processor version of Fritz. Second it's doubtful whether Kasparov took Deep Blue seriously. And last but not least Kramnik has a more rational approch to Chess, he wants to win against his opponent, Kasparov wants to crush his opponents humiliate them which doesn't work against a machine.
Everything they need is there, all that remains is to make a consistent interface for installation/administration which -assumed you let work some ppl full-time on that task- should be doable.
If not we'll have a delay - so what? AMD just delayed the Hammer, M$ delayed its next OS and Dungeon Keeper was more than 4 years late iirc.

a P4 has 4 pipelines with 20-stage pipeline, a PowerPC 7 pipelines with 4 steps afaik.
Long pipelines are better if you want high clock speeds therefore it looks like intel will be able to push the p4 design beyond the 4GHz
but the PowerPC design is more efficient; say the processor is not able to fill a pipeline at one clock cycle, the PowerPC will lose one working step for 4 cycles, the p4 for 20, the same problem occurs if the jump prediction fails.
But as AMD had to learn with the Athlon (which is afaik similar to the PowerPC in this design point) a P4 may be inferior at the same clock speed but that's meaningless if Intel is able to reach 800MHz (Athlon) to 1GHz (PowerPC) more.
As you can see two threads above most of the shorts are made by Japanese ppl and -I assume- by Japanese studios so it's animation made in Japan in the typical style and imho that qualifies them to be called Anime

That's a good point but the tolerance for conventional high-speed trains (for the distance between the tracks to be exact) is smaller and Japan which is probably as unstable as California in this regard is covered with them.
Of course it's a big plus for the supra-conductor system but imho that is not enough to outweigh the advantages of the "conventional approach" =)
Yeah, it would be definitely non-trivial to put something on the tracks 12feet above ground which is heavy enough not to be blown away by the enormous air-pressure in front of a 300mph train.

Thirdly, the way the Germans have approached maglev using magnets to attract each other, requires active controls.
But on the other hand it uses relatively simple systems, electro-magnets are not really high-tech and easy to control, therefore it's no big problem to regulate the fields in order to maintain the correct distance.
3. In addition using electro-magnets has the advantage that you don't need supra-conductors and the immense cooling system which is necessary for that. Therefore the Transrapid doesn't need a "landing gear" like the japanese system it's more lightweight and probably cheaper
