I agree. Believe it or not, the laws of the land are to protect ourselves from the government, and unfortunately I find ourselves drifting closer to communism. Our liberty is slowly fading away through pretenses of terrorism and proliferation of WMD.

We as a people need to stand up and say enough is enough.

It's funny how everyone thinks that iTunes is so innovative and admirable. Yes selling songs online is great and what we've been waiting for. However I would like to point out that if the music industry wouldn't hold onto their songs with an iron fist, selling music online would have been accomplished years ago.

The only innovation I see is that someone (jobs) finally convinced the music industry to let go and start selling online. [Turd]

  10. Not Practicle for the Average Home User on Sun Negotiating With Wal-Mart Over Java Desktop · · Score: 0

    >Sun sells JDS for $100 per machine per year, or $150 per employee per year

I can't justify paying $100/year for JDS. Especially when most games are not written for JDS (at this point in time anyway). In addition, starOffice is nowhere close to MS Office.

Sorry sun, once again you are a day late and a dollar short.

  11. Typical case of Science vs. Religion on California Bans Genegineered Fish · · Score: 1, Insightful

This topic has always spurred an emotional debate. I for one am for science and for genetic engineering. Science and technology are the only initiatives that are going to evolve mankind.

People need to realize that genetic engineering is here to stay; we might as well learn it because if we don't, some other country will.

The point is, by holding science back, we are holding back our own evolution. It's here; we need to deal with it.

Maybe if you call downloading music support!

    >We pay a bit more in taxes and get a lot back in continuingly interesting art. I think that's a good thing.

Gee, who does this guy work for? I don't know anyone who is happy with the levies, or any canadian taxes for that matter... not to mention most canadian artists are crap (not all)!

    > Even our big media group, the CBC, recieves government funding

Another smart government program I'm sure canadians are happy to support.

    You're absolutely right.

The whole reason we elect government officials is to protect us from the government itself. All bills that are passed are not only for protection against our civil rights, but again to protect us from the government.

Notice that more and more of our rights are taken away as the government gains more power?

Look. The only thing that is going to push mankind forward is science and technology. I think you need to look beyond your own selfishness and think of what these scientific advances can do for us. I just read the other day (here on slashdot) that a "bubble boy" was cured due to gene therapy using stem cells. The same sort of cures may (or may not) come out of cloning. But the most important aspect of this whole situation is *education*. Mankind cannot move forward unless there are technological and scientific advances... such as cloning. ~Turd
