Oh great! You live in a country where you're forced to pay out-of-pocket just for owning a TV, and this is somehow good? At least if I don't like the political spin of CNN, I don't have to watch it!
BBC may have more in-depth storytelling, better production values, and intellectual-sounding accents on the TV personalities, but if you think it's any less biased than CNN, Fox News, NY Times, NPR, Washington Times, Rush Limbaugh, etc., then you're fooling yourself.
*Every* outlet is biased, because *every* outlet is staffed with fallible people who all have their own set of preferences. And consciously or subconsciously, innocently or deviously, that bias inevitably seeps into reporting.
If my own personal experience is any indicator, 50 people probably submitted that story last week only to have it rejected. Every story I've ever submitted has been rejected, and in many cases, they've surfaced days later from someone else...
The formerly proactive submitters like me have probably all given up. Now all you get is the news from the folks five days behind.
So what you're saying is effectively, conservatives are racist. Thanks for helping prove my point. You "open-minded" liberals can't even accept the possibility that people who disagree with you are evil people. You can't imagine that people with good intentions would somehow come to a different worldview than yours. You define yourself as "progressive", because progress is good, right? Therefore, anyone who isn't "progressive" is somehow opposed to progress, a racist, etc. Funny that open-minded folks like you are some of the most closed-minded people in the world.
Too many white people for ya? Want to get rid of some of them, do ya?
the folks who worry the most about enforcing diversity of appearance are often the ones who strive the hardest to enforce uniformity of thought...which is exactly what you'd expect in a university town
Venezuela and Cuba. Great examples. Teach people how to read and then forbid them from reading anything that might make someone question the Marxist utopia.
So you want penalize every person and company in the U.S. with the expense of reprinting business cards, notifying contacts of e-mail address and URL changes, etc? Why? Just so a bunch of people who didn't invent the Internet can sieze control of it?
We were out walking the causway through the Bay yesterday, and I had a terrible thought. Someone's probably looking at all those people walking, and saying "What if I had a piece of all of that?" The next step would be to "privatize" bike and walking trails, the then Private Enterprise can run them for a modest fee, and instead of Government paying maintenance, (no doubt doing it incompetently, and government supposedly does with EVERYTHING) they'd be collecting revenue from the initial sale, and tax revenue from the walkers/riders.
Me, I'd be walking somewhere else, and wishing I still had the views.
What's the difference? You're still paying for it with taxes, the only difference is, so are a whole bunch of people who don't use the walkway. Why should they be paying for you to enjoy your fancy views?
This country is full of tyrants who can justify other people paying for their pleasures. What's the difference between using taxes from others to pay for what you want and going to your neighbor and holding him up at gunpoint? Taxes are a form of force, because not paying them will land you in jail. And don't tell me that it's acceptable because of democracy, it is not moral to steal from X just because A, B, and C held a vote and decided it was okay.
In Safari, the URL is preserved in the location bar when an error page appears. You can just hit Apple-R (or click Reload) on the error page, and it will retry loading it.
Also nice is that as of 10.4, if you try to load a page (or multiple pages via tabs) when you are not connected to the Internet, the moment your connection comes up, Safari will automatically reload all the pages that couldn't be loaded when offline. Very useful on a laptop that always shuttles between connectivity and lack thereof...
All I'm saying is that you people are so filled with hatred for G.W. Bush that you can't even resist hijacking a thread about a hurricane to start shit-talking about politics. Can't you leave the dead in New Orleans in peace without walking all over their bodies to make the same political point that you make every time anything happens in the world?
I'm sorry, sir, but your statement condemning Iran was incomplete. Here on Slashdot, all condemnations are supposed to point to the U.S.
Instead, try to figure out how it's our fault that the Iranians are killing people for such ludicrous "offenses." I'm sure your Score: 3, Insightful will soon become a Score: 5.
Oh wait: PBS (damn!)
Sounds like the only thing crappier than pop-up ads are songs about pop-up ads.
I have, however, heard of a "red light district," a term that seems more universal...
Actually, in previewing my post, I now see that you were modded as Troll. Sheesh! Some people don't get it...

Nose bras? Antenna balls? You're into some kinky shit, my friend!

What's Rupert Murdoch got to do with this?

Good out-of-your-ass estimate. Which company and division are you the PHB for?
Exactly. Which is precisely why it must be Bush's fault!
But don't you see? Bush is responsible. This sort of thing didn't happen when Hillary Clinton was president!

Yes! Yes! It is bad to be rich! Kill all the rich people so everyone will be poor!
Not to be too grim, but they probably don't need that study anymore...
Next thing you'll tell us is how Karl Rove cooked up the hurricane to distract attention from Iraq, right?
Why don't you go home and jerk off to pictures of Cindy Sheehan, jackass.

Kudos to you, good sir!
