If all we wanted was oil then why not seize the Saudi oil fields?
US oil companies already have excellent access to Saudi oil fields, from which the profits are split with the Saudi Royal Family. This profitable relationship enables the US to ignore the human rights abuses in Saudi Arabia, which are exactly the same as seen in Afghanistan under the Taliban.
What makes you think that the US Government will legislate the use of biomass fuels? The influence of the oil companies in US politics is too great.
After all, why do you think the US is so keen to invade Iraq? I won't deny that Saddam Hussein is unstable, but I reckon the 112 bn barrels of oil Iraq is sitting on provides the ultimate motive. IMHO, The US will push for a US-friendly leader to ensure US oil companies receive drilling rights to continue the cycle of money.
One year has passed since the United States faced the attacks that will be associated with this date, 11 September, for a great many years to come.
It would seem appropriate at this time to look back to see how America has changed, specifically in its relationship with other countries.
Why do religious extremists justify attacking America? What is it that makes citizens of foreign countries hate America? And is America doing anything to counteract this problem?
I'm using Win2K at the moment (I'm at work), and I downloaded SP3 which also gives this option. However, after reading your post, I clicked the Windows Update item in the Start menu, and lo and behold, IE popped up.
I use SuSE at home, and being a relatively new Linux user, I really appreciate the YaST update system available, which updates various essential and non-essential software. One imagines this would be welcome by the majority of Windows users.
While it is fantastic that Denmark are investing so much in renewable energy, how long will we have to wait until other countries get the hint?
In this article from New Scientist, it is revealed that the US, Japan, Australia and OPEC "vigorously opposed" any increase in the target proportion of renewable energy. Currently , the proportion of energy that comes from renewable sources is roughly 2%.
So whilst it's great that Denmark are seemingly leading the way, it needs the large industrialised countries to develop a sense of morals and stop thinking of the bottom line..
I think The Onion hit the nail on the head with this article.
If you take any strategic game, a human player will consider all of the possible moves that they can think of, whether or not these include all possible moves as defined by the rules of said game.
How does this differ from human intelligence? Surely the fact that the machine can utilise a full range of options makes the machine more intelligent?
players from the three realms of Camelot, who normally kill each other gleefully on sight, stood in the shape of a heart
So what happened at the end of the funeral? Did everyone slaughter each other? Seems like a great opportunity to miss. It could be like one of those mafia family funerals where someone gets whacked as they're leaving.
In all seriousness. this is a very nice gesture. It may be perceived as a bit sad, but it's a fitting tribute.
I've made my choice, and I suggest that you do the same.
My original point was that RealVideo is only supported by an extremly irritating piece of software, for which there is no alternative.
The merits of the file format itself in terms of compression and streaming ability are not in question -- they are deemed to be excellent by replies to this thread. However, the fact remains that this is a proprietary format, and therefore one is limited to the software used to display the encoded file.
But the report only tracks the proprietary file formats, excluding industry standards such as MP3 or SMIL--a factor that hurts the companies supporting them, such as Apple and RealNetworks. Eventually, Nielsen/NetRatings plans to track nonproprietary formats as well.
One presumes that this includes MPEG video as well.
You are, of course, correct. Neither I nor anybody else has any right to tell someone how to distribute their video, or any other material. I shall conceed that point.
However, I will raise a secondary point: if you are attempting to reach the widest audience possible, it would surely make sense to choose a non-proprietary format. Perhaps this isn't the goal of this web site, perhaps they don't care if their visitors can't see the videos? But that would surely be illogical.

The US has a bad reputation for all things environmental for a good reason! The fact that George W. Bush abandoned the Kyoto Protocol and pushed for oil drilling in Alaska as two of his first acts in office doesn't inspire confidence.

I'm guessing blue or black jeans with a T-shirt from ThinkGeek? Why should Halloween be any different? :-P
[x] Easy support for video files and DVD
You could do a LOT worse than mplayer..

The requirements are as follows:

So... how did you make these discoveries? :-P

I read "getting" as "developing".
Naturally, I couldn't possibly comment on the sexual preferences of each and every perl developer. :-)
I guess all the female Perl developers will be sticking to version 5 then.

Erm.. I haven't! :-)
Say "Vorbis" then. That sounds good, and that is the name of the Sound encoding.. Ogg is the group of media products.
Compare with Real[Video|Audio]..

For me, the problems always occurred after installation...
