I have a sincere request for you. If you could direct me to the information required to make Ubuntu run well and stable, with a low latency kernel, and an external Pro-Audio sound card, without PulseAudio conflicting with Jack, that would be incredible, but until then, I am stuck with Windows 7(which is not terrible, for Windows)

Coldly it lies, too and this lie creeps from its mouth: ' I , the state, am the people !'. Now open your ears, for now I shall speak to you of the death of peoples."

Nietzsche was right, and any who would be so foolish as to disagree is either blind or fully morally ruined by a slave morality.

I have a very serious question. Is it not time to, as Mencken once said "Hoist the black flag and begin to slit throats"? If it were my children, there would be another school shooting in the news, but it would be the school administration and their lackeys in the unions and school board who would be the one's suffering.

Simple math. Harm a child, you die. No judge, no jury.

Fuck public school, the communists and the culture destroyers, the unions and the businessmen, and of course the uninformed, unenlightened "parents" have turned it into a sick, degenerate and ugly circus.

If you love your children, you will either home school them or send them to a private school.

I still submit that, excepting wholesale lifting of an entire song, sampling can be a creative aid, but yeah, I get your point from one of the other replies.

It sure is nice that we have here an honest to goodness dyed in the wool expert on all things music, because I could have sworn that when I am not playing my synthesizers, when I am instead using maybe a mic plugged into a pedal chain and making scraping noises and screaming that I was in fact NOT making music. It's also good to know that if I am indeed just pushing buttons, that I am in fact not making music at all, but am instead contributing to a "trendy curiosity" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Definition_of_music Thanks for that, now go fuck yourself.

I for one am neither a fan nor detractor of Apple, and yes I do understand what you are saying, but why must your opinion be so forcefully stated, as if by holy fucking writ RMS came down from Mt. Fucking Sinai to declare that any other use case scenario other than that of the oss/free software community is tantamount to a sort of mortal sin against a very narrow definition of "free", "open" and "accessible".

Does every goddamn device you purchase have to be totally open, with root filesystem access and hackability? Maybe for yourself, and those who get off on this sort of thing, but you must realize that there are far more people like me than there are of you, and in this particular fight, I personally do not care that the iPad is proprietary, I would just like a device that does what it says on the box without any effort.

I plan on getting an iPad for performing music live, as the app store has plenty of awesome synthesizer and looping apps.

To close, I do realize that we are all centers of our subjective universes, but the solipsistic nature of many of these posts just makes me want to fucking cry about the nature of western civilization, as the old standards of debate and discussion have been rendered moot by a sort of back and forth playground childishness.

So, congratulations for not wanting an iPad, now unless you have something reasonably constructive to add to this discussion, could you please kindly shut the fuck up.

Me too. Since I am a performing musician, I am definitely going to be getting an iPad for many synthesizers and music apps available in the app store, and I don't really care that it's not RMS's wet dream of "open" and "free" standards.

Even geeks desire usability. It just depends on the use case scenario.
