    If you live in one of those smaller towns with only one high speed solution you will be really in favor of net neutrality legislation.

    If you live in a dense area with strong high speed competiton even two cable companies which run multiple lines in to your house (like I happen to have right now), they cant play monopoly games too much because people have a choice.

    If you are technically smart and invent something but you try to create a patent your self for low cost you are likely to be screwed by lack of knowledge of legal drafting. So you have high upfront cost to pay for that language or figure it out yourself.

    If you are an IP lawyer with not much technical skill, its ok if your idea isnt really new. It does not cost you much to submit more than one application, and the wording on some makes it new. But that is determined later. You have low upfront cost.

    They mention latency without saying what it is in the press release. I couldnt find it on the site. Maybe the tech docs have it. They compare it to Myrinet without saying what the latency is. It could be great. It could be crap.

    Do what ever you can to work for them during the summer so that you have references or can work at the same firm later. Also this is good to get a feeling for what the firm/career is like.

    avsforum is great for home theater pc

    I still dont trust ATI. I just bought a 9000 PRO AIW after some good reviews. All their drivers are WHQL certified now. So at least standard video / multiple out stuff dosent cause crashes. But the Tv-on-demand software causes 100% cpu utilization on a 2ghz p4, and often crashes. I saw a whole forum/poll for snapstream where people were buying the Hauppauge 250 or 350 to replace various ATI AIW cards. Like 90% were very happy with the switch (well they just use the AIW as a video card)

    By the way why would the company do this you might ask ? Heres one reason, the GMAM grading rules say that if the scores of the human and machine (e-rater) differ too much then a third grader (human) must grade it. Thats more cost for the company.

    e-rater is used on the GMAT. What do you think happens when the human grader disagrees too much with the machine ? They get fired.

    Those features probably mean patents. Why do you think a sony devices have generally such good ratings for user interface and others dont exactly copy them ? (yes I know sony dosent make a device in this product category. No major old manufacturer does. I wonder why ? RIAA pressures ?)

    There are now large ships that launch rockets. Use those in the middle of the ocean. Also, these nuclear rockets would be so overpowered by comparison they could launch AND LAND vertically (also in the middle of the ocean). Landing in such a way the re-entry footprint is very small.

    Just like a submarine, its crazy not to use nuclear.

    Actually I have ECC REG for my single CPU. But not dual channel. A GIG no less. AMD dual boards are min $190 alone. Doing dual CPU without soldering hacks is expensive. Id prefer not to even use the nondual marked AMD's because of stability concerns.

    If this is multi core, which I would love. How are they going to find a market segment to charge high prices for ? I want dual. But with either intel or amd its expensive. In AMD's case the board. Intel now at least has hyperthreading which should fix some sluggishness I feel. So what will differentiate a xenon if there are duals in a core ? An extra processor will mean alot less to a workstation or some servers if there is already a dual in a single core.
