    Logic fail? Why are you assuming 2 separate systems for measuring speed? I suppose they could have used GPS for their logs, but it didn't say that anywhere. Most likely the cars speedometer and the speed on the logs came from the same source. Any error due to tire size would have affected both equally.

    At the risk of not actually answering the question you asked, why not use Windows 8? One click and you are on the desktop, and the experience is roughly the same as windows 7. If that one click is too much effort, install Classic Shell, and get almost exactly the same experience as windows 7. It works for me (YMMV).

    Did you seriously think they were carrying diesel in open buckets? They were almost certainly using proper fuel containers (ie gas cans). Bucket brigade is a figure of speech.

    The Globe and Mail put up a 10 free samples per month, then we block you and redirect you to a subscription nag screen wall. It was mildly annoying to have to click on somebody else's link to the same story, until I made a wild guess and found that firefox private browsing mode disabled the block.

    My personal favorite version of this is "Even if it only saves one life, it will be worth it" usually uttered by some will intentioned lackwit who wants you or the government to spend a huge sum of money to fix some minor safety issue. The proper answer to this is "You are an idiot. If we spend that money on we can save many more lives. Why should all those people die so you can maybe save that one person"

    In Canada we used to believe the word of an RCMP officer over the word of a citizen. The we had the Dziekanski case, where the video clearly showed that the cops were lying. Not only did they lie in their initial reports, but they continued to lie at the public inquiry, even though the video evidence clearly showed they were lying. I think if it came to a "he said she said" with the Mounties now, the citizen would be more likely to be believed.

    I'm almost certain Gore wouldn't have invaded Iraq. I'm reasonably certain he wouldn't have invaded Afghanistan. The enormous cost to America, in lives and treasure, of those two wars does not seem to have brought corresponding benefits.

    Wow. I've been going to concerts for ever. First show - Peter Frampton and Donovan 1976. They have always had patdowns at the door. It's part of the concert experience. They don't give a damn about your weed, the just want to keep bottles and fireworks out. Go see a metal show, they don't pretend its family friendly. You owe it to yourself to see Rammstein before you die.

    While I'm certainly in favor of giving consumers more information, a GMO label doesn't really do this. Corn and bananas have undergone extensive selective breeding to yield products that appear grossly different from their ancestral plants. Does that count as genetically modified?

    What about grafting a branch of one species of fruit-bearing tree onto the roots/trunk of another species?

    What if I take a naturally occurring gene for hardiness from a plant found in the wild and add it to a cultivated plant of the same species?

    What if I take that naturally occurring gene and add it to a plant from a different species?
    YES
    What if I create a hybrid gene not found in nature and add that to my crops?
    YES
    The average consumer is ill equipped to interpret these distinctions, and so I don't think a carte blanche GMO label really serves consumers' interests or justifies its own cost.

    Right Way. Q. $Distro sucks, I've tried everything I can think of to get my HP all-in one printer to print color and it still doesn't work. I'm going to install XP, at least then I can print. A1. Don't do that, try editing $wtf.conig and setting output =color. A2 Don't do that, here is a shell that will patch your $wtf.config and your printer will work just fine.
