In TFA the interviewer asks if Wanda will have a "special edition release" like Ico had. What's he referring to there? Is he calling the finished version that was released in Europe/Japan the "special edition"?
I'm not saying I have a problem with icon-based interfaces. I am saying that I have a problem with iconifying every single command. It makes sense to iconify commonly used commands. In one of my other responses, I point out how (IMHO) giving the "power users" the ability to assign keyboard shortcuts to any menu command is more usable than having an iconified button for every command. And yes, KDE/Gnome are worse off for it in many ways than Windows is.
This is exactly what I was referring to. Rather than having an icon/button for every single command, it's a better idea to allow keyboard shortcut customization for the menu commands. That way, if someone is a power user, they can have a key-binding of their own choosing that performs the command, rather than having to move the mouse to click a button that they usually have to wait for the tooltip to appear on to make sure it's the right one.
Hard to say whether it's progress, since I can't access TFA. However, I will say that the MS/Windows habit of trying to iconify every possible command is not progress. Some things simply cannot be conveyed via a 12x12 or 16x16 (or whatever the res is) pictogram.
Anyone else think that his "wiping out all the buggers" plotline is just a little too obvious?

So, this is an app that converts video clips to mpeg4 and then copies them to whichever drive the PSP is mounted as? Gotta agree with others -- where's the "casting" part here?
The average person can't tell the difference between 35mm and digital projection.
You certainly can! For starters, the image doesn't have any scratches or floaters on it. It also doesn't jitter around or flicker like film. Oh, and the colors tend to be considerably brighter. The downside is that when the screen goes totally black, it's actually a very dark grey (more of an illuminated black).
IIRC, the format that these systems use is based on WMP9. Who wants to bet that the distribution costs will remain low for the first year or two, and then suddenly begin increasing due to various MS licensing costs. Eventually, it will end up costing the theaters more than if they'd just stuck with 35mm...Just a hunch...
Forget Star Wars, I'm more excited about "The Adventures of Shark Boy & Lava Girl in 3-D." I mean, c'mon, with a title like that you know it's gotta be good!
They should also use the "Pro" moniker on the low end (aka Home) edition and rename "Pro" to "Corporate Edition." There seem to be far too many people that feel that they need the "Pro" version of something, simply because it's better.

Of course not. Everyone knows amber was much better...
Nothing for you to see here. Please move along.
OMG!!! Slashdot's been hijacked too!

I haven't finished Ico yet...
I played through it again a few weekends ago. It only takes about 5 or 6 hours. Maybe 10 the first time through...
Freedom is on the march? Says who? Name your sources, please...

Comcast doesn't ignore their users. They send them an invoice every month...
Watch as AOL and MSN/Hotmail now mark IBM as a spammer...
I won't tell you who their funders are, but I'll give you a hint. Their initials are F, B, and I, and C, I, and A. : p

And, quite frankly, Lucas is starting to seem more and more irrelevant with his one-trick pony.
Starting to???

Juiced is not a great book. The End.
I play a _lot_ of games, and I'm pretty sure there's no game out there where you can squat and take a cleveland steamer on someone.
:p
You're just not playing these games with the right people. Oh, and BTW, it's not a videogame (unless someone's filming it)...
I am utterly shocked by this revelation!
Is that like Windows for Cripples?

You have to catch the virgin first. Sadly, this should prove very difficult for those reading this article.
How so? I figure stringing up a fishing net over the cubicle next door should take care of this. I just hope he doesn't get the same idea first...
This explains why my startup sound suddenly changed into a groaning voice saying "Braiinnnnnssss..."
